Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, and many drivers describe it as dependable and trouble-free over time. That said, you should still shop carefully because used-truck ownership risk often comes down to how the previous owner maintained the vehicle and whether any recurring issues were addressed before sale.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on the truck’s body, frame, suspension, and drivetrain, since those areas matter most on a used pickup. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records so you can separate a well-kept truck from one that has been worked hard.

If you find a listing below $18,037, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,037 sits slightly below last year's $19,981.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,097, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $18,037 average.
• It offers a simpler, more traditional truck formula with a familiar, balanced feel.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better all-around pick if you want stronger owner satisfaction, modern features, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If your main goal is to spend less, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and may make sense if you value a simpler setup over newer tech.
