What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Impala?

At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, tires, and alignment clues. Pay close attention to visibility-related complaints and any signs that the car has been repaired after a collision. A clean maintenance record and a thorough test drive matter more here than a quick glance at the odometer.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT and 2LTZ trims are the ones tied to the V6 engine, while the base setup uses the standard 4-cylinder. The interior is described as busy, and the more expensive versions are the ones that bring the stronger engine and a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 4-cylinder, while the V6 is the satisfying upgrade for stronger passing power and easier highway merging. The car is front-drive and uses a 6-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The Advanced Safety Package includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning. The most expensive version can also be paired with adaptive cruise control and front automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The MyLink system supports OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Pandora Internet radio, text-message alerts, and multiple USB ports. It also includes a 3-prong electrical outlet and a secure storage area behind the screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says to expect between 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, depending on configuration.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Impala trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is offered in 3 trim levels: LS, 2LT, 2LTZ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Impala’s roomy cabin and comfortable road manners. It’s the trim to consider if value matters most and you’re okay with the standard 4-cylinder setup.
• 2LT: This is the best-value trim because it unlocks the V6, which the review says you need for a satisfying powertrain. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Impala to feel properly strong without jumping to the top trim.
• 2LTZ: This is the top trim and the one tied to the most advanced safety setup, including the optional adaptive cruise control system with front automatic braking. Choose it if you want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is available on other versions for $890, but the most expensive version is required for the adaptive cruise control and front automatic braking setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Chevrolet Impala?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 560 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,396, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $10,396 sits slightly below last year's $11,471.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that pricing discipline matters: a clean, well-kept Impala should still attract interest, but you may need to price it competitively to move it quickly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Impala safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good rating in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal impact and side impact tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy offers an Advanced Safety Package that includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning. The most expensive version can also be equipped with adaptive cruise control and front automatic braking.

One caveat is that the forward-collision warning system is described as too sensitive and loud, while the blind-spot monitoring system is too quiet and difficult to detect.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its strong technology score and easygoing, predictable road manners.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $9,809, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $10,396 average.
• It emphasizes styling, comfort, and a more upscale-feeling cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market position, the 2015 is the better all-around pick because it combines solid pricing, good inventory, and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path.
