What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has higher mileage or a long list of options. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim level and price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is the most stripped-down version, with an Extended cab, a long box, rear-wheel drive, a 6-speed manual, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It includes useful basics like a rear-view camera, stability control, and a 4.2-inch color display, while the higher trims add more comfort, convenience, and capability.
• Powertrain: You can shop the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or the optional 3.6-liter V6. The V6 brings stronger performance, quiet highway manners, and fuel-economy figures that still make the truck appealing for daily use.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, airbags including side head curtains, and a rear-vision camera. Forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings are available, and OnStar adds automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance.
• Infotainment: Higher trims bring Chevrolet MyLink with an 8-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, OnStar 4G LTE capability, and support for Siri Eyes Free. The system also includes USB ports and text messaging features.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 17 mpg city/24 highway/20 combined, while the 2.5-liter RWD models are rated at 27 mpg highway and the 3.6-liter RWD models at 26 mpg highway.

Which 2015 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, WT, LT and Z71.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the bargain choice if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the most basic setup. It gives you the essentials, but it is also the trim most likely to leave you wanting more comfort and convenience.
• WT: This is the practical step up if you want more flexibility in configuration and powertrain choice without jumping too far in price. It is the trim to consider if you want a work-focused truck with better options than the Base.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest jump in comfort and technology, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, OnStar features, and more convenience equipment.
• Z71: This is the right pick if you want the most utility and the most complete equipment list. It adds the off-road suspension package, locking rear differential, hill descent control, recovery hooks, and more premium touches.

The safety package includes a standard rear-vision camera, with forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings available.

• Inventory: There are 922 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,620, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $16,029 sits slightly below last year's $17,224.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you shop carefully and avoid overpaying, you give yourself a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado had yet to be rated by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) at the time of this review, so crash test ratings were unavailable.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control, airbags including side head curtains, and a standard rear-vision camera. Available forward-collision alert and lane-departure warnings add extra protection, and OnStar brings automatic crash response, stolen-vehicle assistance, and roadside assistance.

Should I buy a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It returns after a 3-year hiatus with modern styling, safety, and technology, and it won Motor Trend’s 2015 Truck of the Year award.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,033, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $16,029 average.
• It adds a stout diesel engine for buyers who want extra distinction and efficiency.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and the truck already brings a strong mix of comfort, utility, and technology. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative with a diesel option, the 2016 is worth a look.
