Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Generally — the 2015 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a well-liked used luxury coupe and convertible lineup. Drivers consistently praise its sporty performance, modern interior, and overall value, and they also highlight its strong handling and confidence in varied conditions like rain and snow. The overview frames it as a stylish, driver-focused choice that prioritizes design and driving feel, especially if you want something more distinctive than a conventional compact luxury car. Good and great deals account for 35.1% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with owners calling out its trouble-free character, strong performance, and confidence over time. The expert driving notes also emphasize the chassis’ predictable behavior and solid road manners, which supports the sense that the car is built to be lived with rather than just admired. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that premium BMW upkeep can become expensive if the car wasn’t maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

At 50.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s premium options still work as intended, since this model can be expensive to refresh if neglected. Pay extra attention to signs of wear that could affect the driving experience, because the 4 Series is meant to feel sharp and composed.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4 Series is offered in coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe body styles, and the coupe’s standard look and balanced chassis are a big part of the appeal. Some shoppers may notice that premium features are not included compared with other models, so you should compare equipment carefully before paying more for a higher-spec example.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 hp and a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 300 hp. The four-cylinder is tuned more as a luxury cruiser, while the six delivers the stronger, more effortless performance feel.
• Safety package: The car offers adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras for $1,900 extra. Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall.
• Infotainment: BMW’s ConnectedDrive system is described as straightforward, and the available Technology Package adds a heads-up display. The system can be paired with Bluetooth streaming and a rear-view camera package, but the car’s tech is not the class leader.
• Fuel efficiency: The 428i returns 23 mpg city/35 highway/27 combined, while the 435i is rated at 20/30/23 mpg by the EPA.

Which 2015 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 428i and 435i.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the better-value choice if you want the 4 Series experience without paying for the stronger engine. It delivers the core appeal of the car — the sleek design, balanced chassis, and everyday-friendly performance — while keeping the price and running costs more manageable.
• 435i: Choose this if you want the more rewarding engine and the stronger performance character. It feels more effortless and more urgent, and it’s the trim to target if driving enjoyment matters more to you than value.

The safety package is optional rather than standard, so check whether a used example has the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 851 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,416, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,522 sits slightly below last year's $13,813.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you own a well-kept example, the combination of distinctive styling and strong enthusiast appeal should help it stay relevant with used shoppers. Cars with clean histories and desirable equipment should be easier to move than neglected examples, especially in a premium segment where condition matters a lot.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series does not have published crash-test ratings from either major U.S. testing body.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW offers adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras as part of an available safety package, while standard equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall. Because those driver-assistance features are not standard, you should verify whether a used example has them before you buy.

Should I buy a 2015 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its stylish, driver-focused design and strong performance character.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $12,243, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,522 average.
• It’s a sporty daily driver that balances fun and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly alternative.
