Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Venza stands out for bringing more style and flair than most of Toyota’s other vehicles, which gives this crossover a more distinctive look than many buyers might expect. It is also described as roomy, comfortable, safe, and stylish, making it an appealing choice for shoppers who want a practical vehicle without giving up a more polished personality.
That appeal comes with a few tradeoffs. The 2014 Toyota Venza lacks modern safety technologies, and its cabin is described as inexpensively trimmed. Even so, the overall impression is that it represents money well spent, especially for buyers who value comfort and space. The available V6 engine is singled out as the upgrade to choose, suggesting that it is the version most likely to satisfy drivers who want the Venza at its best.

Would buy again. - Our Venza was purchased on first sight. Our family unanimously loved the styling and practical, comfortable dimensions.(and rich color) It is the vehicle of choice for long trips or carrying bulky items. Toyota quality is evident in fit, finish, operation, dealer service, actually everything. This is our second Venza, our first, an '09 had a problem with the AWD which was resolved, although it made odd noises after the repair that reapperared periodically. Acceleration is brisk with the V6, but the 4 is adequate. The mileage is close, so we picked the reserve power the V6 provides. The 4 requires synthetic oil be warned. Handling is secure for a bulky vehicle, with very short stops with the 4 antilock disc brakes and low profile tires. The 20" alloy wheels give the Venza an aggressive look we like, just watch those curbs or the wheels will rash easily. The cabin is quiet and chock full of conveniences like dual climate control, auto dimming xenon headlamps, navigation with rear camera, bluetooth cell linking, heated seats, a huge console, and remote power tailgate. New for the limited, electrically folding mirrors and auto seat and steering make entry and exits easier. With all the safety features, great crash rating, airbags front and side, dual sunroofs, more legroom in back than front, reclining rear seats, this is a very passenger friendly vehicle. Now that the bugs have been worked out, we can recommend the Venza, and would purchase it again.

The earlier design of the Toyota Venza is a roomy, elegant vehicle. The Limited version has everything that you could want in your car. This is a sturdy, recognizable crossover that has loads of room for your luggage and drives quietly for long trips. Highly recommend it!

Has all the bells and whistles of top-of-the-line vehicles, plus Toyota ‘s legendary reputation to let you know it’s a quality performer. Smooth, graceful lines similar to the Lexus RX 350.

How much does the 2014 Toyota Venza cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,507 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,637.78 |
| Year-Round High | $12,626.38 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,311 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +1.59% |
Prices are up 1.59% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 216 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare. If you find a listing below $11,637.78, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Venza a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Toyota Venza earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.
Drivers consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, comfortable ride, and stylish design. The overview also frames it as a practical choice that still feels distinctive, especially if you want room and comfort without a plain crossover look.
That combination makes sense if you want a roomy, comfortable, and stylish family vehicle for long trips and everyday hauling. With 28.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive value opportunities.
Is the 2014 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers also describe it as reliable, and the review summary highlights its dependable, trouble-free appeal along with its spaciousness and comfortable ride.
The expert review reinforces that view by calling it a reliable vehicle and noting strong dependability from J.D. Power. It also points to free maintenance and roadside assistance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which helps early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well, since age and prior use matter more than the model’s reputation alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Venza?
At 54.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually strong. Focus on body condition, wheel and tire wear, and signs of prior repair quality, since those are the kinds of issues that can affect long-term satisfaction.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE is the standard trim, while the XLE adds leather, Smart Key passive entry, navigation with advanced voice recognition, Entune App Suite services, HD Radio, iTunes song-tagging capability, a reversing camera, a power tailgate, heated front seats, a 4-way power front passenger’s seat, and memory for the driver’s seat and mirror settings. The Limited adds a panoramic glass sunroof, a larger 7-inch high-resolution infotainment touchscreen, a premium JBL audio system, front and rear parking-assist sensors, automatic HID headlights with automatic high-beam operation, LED running lights, larger 20-inch aluminum wheels, and a standard V6 engine.
- Powertrain: The Venza uses a 181-hp, 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine in standard form, while a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 is available in LE and XLE trims and standard on Limited. All-wheel drive is available, and the V6 upgrade brings much more power with only a small fuel-economy penalty.
- Safety package: The Venza comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag and blind-spot side-mirror designs. A reversing camera is optional on LE and standard on XLE and Limited, while front and rear parking-assist sensors are limited to the Limited trim. It does not offer blind-spot information, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, or Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification.
- Infotainment: The standard system uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen. The XLE adds navigation with advanced voice-recognition technology and Entune App Suite services, while the Limited upgrades to a larger 7-inch high-resolution infotainment touchscreen. Wireless smartphone integration and OTA capability are not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder returned 25.7 mpg on a 700-mile trip and is rated at 26 mpg on the highway. The V6 is also rated at 26 mpg on the highway, which makes the stronger engine easier to justify.
Which 2014 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Venza’s core space, comfort, and style at the lowest starting price. It is the trim to target if you plan to keep things simple and add only the options you really want.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including leather, Smart Key, navigation, a reversing camera, heated front seats, and memory settings. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
- Limited: This is the fully loaded choice, with the panoramic sunroof, larger touchscreen, JBL audio, parking-assist sensors, and standard V6 engine. Buy this if you want the most features and the stronger powertrain from the start.
The safety package is limited overall, so even higher trims do not fully solve the Venza’s missing modern driver-assistance tech.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 216 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.59% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 54.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,637.78, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $12,507 sits slightly above last year's $12,311.
That modest increase suggests the Venza has held value reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to resell later. A rising price trend can also indicate that shoppers still see appeal in the model’s space, comfort, and style.
For you, that means a well-kept Venza should remain reasonably marketable if you maintain it carefully and keep records. The combination of steady demand and a value-oriented reputation can help support resale strength over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2014 Venza earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, and IIHS says it performs at a Good level in its assessments.
It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.
The Venza comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag and blind-spot side-mirror designs. A reversing camera is optional on the LE and standard on the XLE and Limited, while front and rear parking-assist sensors are limited to the Limited trim.
The main caveat is that the Venza lacks modern crash-prevention technology such as blind-spot information, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and Safety Connect with Automatic Collision Notification. IIHS also has not evaluated its small-overlap frontal-impact crash protection.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.59% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 stands out for its roomy, comfortable, safe, and stylish character, while the review strongly recommends the optional V6 engine.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,394, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $12,507 average.
- It adds a more explicit value pitch while still being roomy and practical.
The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and shop carefully for a clean, well-maintained example.
