CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Porsche 911

Summary
With 345 currently listed for sale and an average price of $110,768, 32.8% of 2014 Porsche 911 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Porsche 911 4.42 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Porsche 911 stands out because it combines the model’s signature rear-engine layout with the kind of performance that has made the 911 an icon for decades. In the buying guide, Porsche describes the 911 as one of the most recognizable sports cars ever made, and the seventh-generation version is noted for its distinctive shape, its rear-engine powertrain placement, and its reputation for strong all-around performance. That same generation also brought a more modern feel than earlier cars, though the steering change away from hydraulic assistance reduced some of the feedback that enthusiasts value.
For 2014 specifically, the 911 lineup expanded with the Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, a new Targa, and a 50th Anniversary edition. The Turbo used a 3.8-liter engine with 520 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo S increased output to 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet. The GT3 brought a naturally aspirated engine rated at 475 horsepower and 325 pound-feet, and it was offered only with rear-wheel drive and either a seven-speed PDK or a six-speed manual. Those figures help explain why the 2014 911 appeals to buyers who want serious speed, but the guide also makes clear that the car’s limited passenger and cargo space, along with its high price and maintenance costs, remain part of the ownership tradeoff.
Owners’ comments reinforce that appeal, with praise centered on the car’s power, driving dynamics, reliability, and engine sound. At the same time, some owners mention concerns about interior cleanliness, transmission issues, and the need for spare parts, which fits the 911’s image as a rewarding but expensive sports car to own.

The car is a significant upgrade from my 997.1. The car is quick, and I love the sound from the engine. First PDK, but love it. The best balance of performance and convenience. The styling is phenomenal. Great value for the overall car. Love it!!

Purchased a 2014 911 Carrera coupe from a private seller off of Cargurus. It’s an amazing piece of machinery and purchase price was extremely reasonable for what was originally a 100k car. Love the manual transmission although I don’t really ever use 7th gear so in my opinion the extra gear isn’t really necessary. Overall it’s the best driving, sounding and looking car I have ever owned!

This car is spectacular. I currently own a similar 2012 model and the 2014 includes several small but noticeable improvements. Cant go wrong with it.

How much does the 2014 Porsche 911 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $110,585 |
| Year-Round Low | $100,388 |
| Year-Round High | $116,904 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $102,505 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +7.88% |
Prices are up 7.88% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 346 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2014 Porsche 911 a good car?
Generally — the 4.42/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the 2014 Porsche 911 for its outstanding power, impressive driving dynamics, and engine sound, and the overview also frames it as a serious performance car with the 911’s signature rear-engine layout and iconic shape. For you, that means it fits best if you want a focused sports car with strong all-around performance rather than a roomy daily driver. With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Porsche 911 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to reliability as a strength, with owners praising it as dependable and trouble-free enough to call it a true supercar. That said, some comments mention transmission concerns and the need for spare parts, so used buyers should expect ownership to reward careful maintenance and a thorough pre-purchase check. For you, the long-term risk is less about the car’s appeal and more about making sure the specific example has been well cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Porsche 911?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a detailed inspection of the car’s condition, especially signs of prior damage or inconsistent maintenance. Because owners mention transmission issues and spare parts concerns, it makes sense to pay close attention to how the car shifts and whether service records are complete. You should also inspect the interior carefully, since cleanliness came up in owner feedback as a recurring concern.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Porsche 911?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 346 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.88% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 78.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $100,388, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Porsche 911's resale value?
The current average of $110,585 sits slightly above last year's $102,505.
That upward move suggests the market still places strong value on this model year, which can help support resale if you buy carefully. Because demand remains steady and the 911 name carries broad appeal, a well-kept example should remain easier to move than a less desirable sports car. Your best resale position comes from choosing a clean, well-documented car with strong condition and avoiding examples with questionable history.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.88% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the 911’s classic rear-engine character, strong owner satisfaction, and a market with enough inventory to shop carefully, the 2014 is a compelling choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and asking price.
