How much does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 5.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,079 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 6.2/10. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the luxury features, strong performance, stylish design, and high-quality interior. The overview also frames it as a refined midsize luxury sedan that feels composed and capable when driven briskly, which fits buyers who want comfort with a more engaging edge. Even so, the market still reflects a selective-buyer environment, with 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on strong performance, luxury features, and a high-quality interior. The expert evaluation also says both Consumer Reports and J.D. Power expect reliability to be better than average over time, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on if it has been maintained properly. The same evaluation also notes that the E-Class is not especially cost effective, so a well-documented service history matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or shows signs of wear. Pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, brakes, and suspension feel in real-world driving, since condition can vary a lot from one example to another. Because this model can be loaded with expensive equipment, you want to confirm that every feature works as intended before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan lineup includes the E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic. The E250 BlueTec and E350 can be optioned with 4Matic all-wheel drive, while the Sport Styling Package changes the exterior look and adds a sport-tuned suspension. Base versions also leave some equipment on the options list, including leather seats, heated front seats, a navigation system, a premium sound system, and a reversing camera.
• Powertrain: The E350 test car uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 7-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, and the E250 BlueTec is called out as the fuel-economy choice. The expert evaluation also notes that the E-Class becomes more dynamic as speeds rise, even without the optional sport suspension.
• Safety package: Safety equipment is grouped into the Lane Tracking Package and the Driver Assistance Package. The Lane Tracking Package includes Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, while the Driver Assistance Package adds active versions of those features plus Distronic Plus cruise control with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Safe Plus, and Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses the COMAND system, and models with the optional Premium Package 1 and hard-drive navigation can access music from AM, FM, satellite radio, Internet radio, Bluetooth, and hard-disc storage. The system also supports mBrace2 telematics and Mercedes-Benz Apps, though the interface is described as fussy.
• Fuel efficiency: The E350 4Matic is rated at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The E250 BlueTec is identified as the fuel-economy-focused choice, while the E550 and AMG models are not.

Which 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 6 trim levels: E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E250 BlueTec: This is the trim to target if you want the most fuel-focused version of the lineup. It sits at the entry point of the sedan range and is the one the expert evaluation points to for buyers prioritizing efficiency.
• E350: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it anchors the lineup with the core luxury-sedan experience and the most familiar balance of comfort, performance, and equipment. It also benefits from the broadest set of available options, so you can tailor it to your needs.
• E400 Hybrid: Choose this if you want a more efficiency-minded powertrain without moving into the larger-engine or AMG territory. It also shares the more upscale exterior treatment described for the higher-positioned models.
• E550 4Matic: This is the step-up choice if you want more power and standard all-wheel drive. It also can be optioned with Airmatic adaptive air suspension, which adds another layer of comfort and sophistication.
• E63 AMG 4Matic: Pick this if you want the performance-focused AMG character and the extra standard equipment that comes with it, including upgrades unavailable on other E-Class sedans.
• E63 AMG S 4Matic: This is the top performance choice, with the most aggressive AMG treatment and the highest price in the lineup.

For safety-minded shoppers, the Driver Assistance Package is the most comprehensive safety setup, while the Lane Tracking Package is the simpler alternative.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,079 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,472, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $12,585 sits slightly below last year's $13,278.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you're shopping now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may remain sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than badge alone. Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than neglected ones, especially in a market where buyers can compare many listings.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class does not have published crash-test results from IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety technology is a major strength here, led by the Intelligent Drive umbrella. Standard equipment includes Collision Prevention Assist and an improved Attention Assist system, while available features include Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Pre-Safe Brake, and Pre-Safe Plus. The expert evaluation also notes that some of the active systems can feel intrusive or take getting used to, especially Steering Assist and lane intervention features.

Should I buy a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary says this year’s E-Class is safe, comfortable, dynamically capable, and equipped with industry-leading technology.

The bottom line: The 2014 is a smart pick if you want the E-Class formula at a lower used-car price and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2014 remains appealing because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid expert approval, and a market that has already softened.
