Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Lexus ES 4.78 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Lexus ES stands out as a luxury sedan that puts comfort first without feeling dull from behind the wheel. It soaks up bumps and potholes, yet still delivers a responsive drive with tight handling. That balance makes it appealing to buyers who want a refined daily driver that is easy to live with and still feels composed on the road.
It also has the kind of strengths that matter in a premium sedan: it is comfortable, offers great ride quality, and is spacious. The ES’s long-standing reputation for reliability and affordability of parts adds to its appeal, and owners often praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and quality performance. One practical drawback is that the rear seat does not fold down, and some reviewers also noted that certain advanced safety technologies were missing for the price.

This is my fourth Lexus ES350 and I have loved every one that I have purchased. The car is luxury all around but dependable and affordable. It’s safe, it’s classy, it’s comfortable and stylish. I highly recommend Lexus.

We are quite happy with our recent purchase of a 2014 Lexus ES 350. We were able to negotiate a fair price for the car. It has just enough new tech to be a considerable upgrade for my wife. We looked at Toyota Avalons and Hyundai Sonatas before settling on the Lexus. We went with the Lexus due to its clean vehicle history, very good condition, low miles and great critical reviews. We even had it checked with an independent mechanic. We are very pleased with this car that we expect to keep for at least ten years.

How much does the 2014 Lexus ES cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,534 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,411.87 |
| Year-Round High | $15,793.94 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,585 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.33% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 472 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of shopping room. If you find a listing below $14,411.87, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Lexus ES a good car?
Yes — the 4.78/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a strong overall impression. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, comfort, smooth ride, stylish design, and quality performance. The ES is also framed as a refined daily driver that is easy to live with, with a spacious cabin and a reputation for reliability and affordability of parts.
The main trade-offs are that the rear seat does not fold down and some advanced safety technologies were missing for the price. For you, that means the ES makes the most sense if you want comfort, refinement, and everyday ease more than maximum utility or the latest feature content. Good and great deals account for 33.3% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Lexus ES reliable?
Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable, and the summary also points to a dependable, trouble-free reputation with long-term appeal. The expert commentary reinforces that theme by emphasizing reliability and affordability of parts, along with comfort as a core strength.
That combination suggests the ES should be a reassuring used buy if you want a luxury sedan you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the brand’s reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lexus ES?
At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or electrical issues. Focus on condition, equipment operation, and whether the car’s safety and convenience features work as expected. Because some listings may have incident history, you’ll want to pay close attention to repair quality and consistency between the car’s condition and its asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base version has a class-leading 10 airbags, while higher equipment packages add lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera.
- Powertrain: The ES 350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Eco mode is the best choice if you want to target the advertised 21 mpg city, 31 highway, 24 combined.
- Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera. The base version still includes 10 airbags, but some safety technologies depend on option package selection.
- Infotainment: The Remote Touch controller manages the LCD screen through a cursor-based interface, and the system is designed to reduce cabin clutter.
- Fuel efficiency: The ES 350 is rated at 21 mpg city, 31 highway, and 24 combined. Eco mode is tuned for better fuel economy, while Sport mode prioritizes quicker response.
Which 2014 Lexus ES trim should I buy?
The 2014 Lexus ES is offered in 1 trim level: ES 350.
Here's the short version:
The ES 350 is the clear choice because it delivers the core Lexus ES formula of comfort, strong ride quality, and a well-equipped luxury feel. It also brings the 3.5-liter V6, the Remote Touch interface, and the available safety tech that helps the car feel more modern. If you want the most complete version of this model year, this is the trim to focus on.
The safety-package note to keep in mind is that some driver-assistance features depend on option package selection, while the base version still includes 10 airbags.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus ES?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.
- Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 472 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 47.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,411.87, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Lexus ES's resale value?
The current average of $15,534 sits slightly below last year's $15,585.
That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than sharply weakening. For you as a future seller, that kind of price movement usually points to predictable depreciation instead of a sudden drop in value. The ES’s comfort-focused appeal and strong reputation should help keep it attractive to used buyers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Lexus ES safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
The base version has a class-leading 10 airbags, and available equipment can include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera. One important caveat is the backup camera behavior: startup messages can block part of the image when you shift into reverse soon after starting the car, which reduces usefulness in that moment. That makes it worth checking the camera and any option-package safety features carefully during your test drive.
Should I buy a 2014 Lexus ES or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 47.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It balances comfort, ride quality, and responsive handling while keeping a refined luxury feel.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $16,886, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,534 average.
- It adds a more upscale, plush, and sophisticated luxury-sedan feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing is stable and the model already delivers the core Lexus ES strengths. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly more refined-feeling successor, the 2015 is the alternative to compare.
