How much does the 2014 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,947 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare by trim, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.8/5 user-rated car with an 8.2/10 expert score. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, value for money, and smooth driving feel. The overview also frames it as refined, capable, and well-rounded, which fits buyers who want a compact sedan that feels more polished than basic transportation.

You also get a strong mix of safety, fuel efficiency, and technology for a car that does not require spending more than $25,000. With 31.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to find a compelling example.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, value, and a trouble-free ownership experience. The expert review also describes the Civic as a good bet for trouble-free ownership with low expected costs over time, and it notes that the car is expected to retain a big chunk of its value.

The powertrain is described as refined and unobtrusive, which supports the sense that this is a car you can count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about finding a well-kept example that has not been worn down by age, mileage, or neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Civic?

At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of past repair. Because owner feedback and expert commentary both emphasize refinement and value, condition matters a lot: a rough example can erase much of what makes this Civic appealing.

Pay close attention to the cabin, too, since some owners wish for more comfortable seating and better Bluetooth connectivity. If you plan to use the tech heavily, make sure the infotainment and phone-pairing features work the way you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas, with the sedan available in all of them and the coupe in the first four. The LX covers the basics, while the EX adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display screen, upgraded audio, and HondaLink. The EX-L adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels, making it the best-value step up if you want more comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The main engine is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder with 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT that is tuned to feel natural and unobtrusive. The engine is described as refined and adequate, with fuel economy rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
• Safety package: The Civic uses an Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and standard equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trims, while Forward Collision Warning is limited to the Hybrid and Lane Departure Warning is also only on the Hybrid.
• Infotainment: Most models get a 7-inch touchscreen display, and the LX includes Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. The EX adds HondaLink smartphone pairing and services, while the system also supports Siri Eyes Free when paired with an iPhone.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.8-liter CVT powertrain is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined. The review also notes a real-world average of 31.9 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Civic experience with Bluetooth, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need the extra convenience features.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display screen, upgraded audio, and HondaLink. It is the trim that most clearly balances price and equipment.
• EX-L: This is the comfort-focused choice, adding leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. If you want a more upscale Civic without jumping into specialty trims, this is the one to target.

The EX and higher trims add LaneWatch, while the Hybrid is the only trim with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,947 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,564, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $10,932 sits slightly above last year's $10,919.

That small increase suggests a stable resale picture rather than a sharply rising or falling one. For you as a future seller, that usually means the Civic’s value is being supported by steady demand instead of short-term market swings.

Its strong reputation for reliability and value helps keep it attractive to used buyers. Because the market has held nearly flat year over year, a clean, well-maintained example should remain relatively easy to position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic safe?

The 2014 Honda Civic earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Civic uses an Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, and standard safety equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trims, while Forward Collision Warning is limited to the Hybrid and Lane Departure Warning is also only on the Hybrid.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines refinement, reliability, fuel efficiency, and technology in a package that stays under a $25,000 target.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,180, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,932 average.
• It further emphasizes reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger buy because pricing is stable and inventory is broad. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2015 is the cleaner upgrade path.

How does the 2014 Honda Civic compare to the 2014 Toyota Corolla?

Our experts score the 2014 Honda Civic 8.2/10 and the 2014 Toyota Corolla 8/10.

The Civic comes across as the more refined and better-equipped choice, while the Corolla leans more toward straightforward economy-car simplicity. You also get a stronger used-market case with the Civic’s lower average price and larger listing pool, even though the Corolla is slightly cheaper at the original sticker level.

The Civic’s higher horsepower and better city fuel economy give it a small edge in everyday drivability. The Corolla counters with a slightly lower starting MSRP, but the Civic’s broader appeal and stronger expert score make it the more compelling all-around pick for many shoppers.
