How much does the 2014 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,932 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Honda Civic earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, value for money, and smooth driving character. The overview also points to a well-rounded sedan that blends safety, reliability, fuel efficiency, and technology in a package that stays under a relatively accessible price point.

With its emphasis on refinement and everyday usability, it makes the most sense if you want a compact car that feels more polished than basic transportation. The market also shows 31.1% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary repeatedly highlights reliability, and it also points to a car that feels solid, smooth, and good value for the money. The expert evaluation reinforces that theme by describing the Civic as a good bet for trouble-free ownership with low expected costs over time.

The cost-effectiveness commentary also notes strong expected value retention and low ownership costs, which supports the case for long-term dependability. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the Civic’s basic durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by age or mileage.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Civic?

At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of past repair. Because the market includes a sizable number of cars with accident history, condition matters more than simply chasing the lowest price.

Pay close attention to the cabin and electronics as well, since owner feedback mentions comfort and technology complaints. A thorough test drive should help you judge whether the car feels as refined as advertised and whether the controls and infotainment setup work for you.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the simplest starting point, while the EX adds aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, two USB ports, a security system, automatic headlights, LaneWatch, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, a 7-inch display, upgraded audio, and HondaLink connectivity and services. The EX-L adds leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, foglights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels, with navigation and additional audio features available on the higher-equipped version described in the content.
• Powertrain: The main engine is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder with 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT on many models. The setup is tuned for refinement and efficiency, with the transmission designed to feel natural rather than intrusive.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trims, while Forward Collision Warning is limited to the Hybrid and Lane Departure Warning is also only on the Hybrid.
• Infotainment: Most models get a 7-inch touchscreen, and the system supports HondaLink, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. The EX adds the upgraded display and smartphone pairing features, while navigation-equipped versions add more capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT-equipped sedan is rated at 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined. The expert review also notes an observed average of 31.9 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Si, HF, Hybrid, and Natural Gas.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you the core Civic experience with Bluetooth connectivity, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora Internet radio. If you want the lowest-cost way into the model, this is the trim to target.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a long list of meaningful upgrades, including aluminum wheels, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, Smart Entry with push-button ignition, LaneWatch, a 7-inch display, upgraded audio, and HondaLink connectivity and services. It is the trim that most clearly balances price and equipment.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale Civic with leather seats, heated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated side mirrors, foglights, and larger wheels. It suits you best if comfort and a more premium feel matter more than keeping the budget tight.
• Si: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a revised suspension, more horsepower and torque, and larger 18-inch wheels. It makes sense if you want the sportiest Civic in the lineup rather than the most comfort or value.
• HF: This trim is aimed at efficiency-focused buyers who want a fuel-saving Civic without moving into the Hybrid or Natural Gas versions. It is the one to consider if your priority is maximizing economy.
• Hybrid: This is the efficiency and safety standout, since it is the only trim mentioned with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, and it earns the top safety recognition noted in the content. If those features matter to you, this is the trim to watch.
• Natural Gas: This is the niche choice for buyers who specifically want the compressed natural gas version, and the content notes a leather interior and navigation on the updated variant. It makes sense only if that fuel setup fits your needs.

The safety-package trim note is simple: LaneWatch is standard on the EX and higher trims, while Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning are limited to the Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,932 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,563, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $11,087 sits slightly below last year's $11,101.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is usually a good sign for future resale planning. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable chance of preserving value without facing a sharp drop in market interest.

The Civic’s reputation for reliability and value also helps support demand on the used market. Buyers tend to keep showing up for cars that are known to be easy to live with, and that helps resale strength over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Civic safe?

The 2014 Honda Civic earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes an expanded-view driver’s side mirror, a reversing camera, and SmartVent front side-impact airbags. The Civic EX and higher trims add LaneWatch, while the Hybrid is the only version mentioned with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

One caveat is that the strongest driver-assistance features are not broadly available across the lineup, so you may need to move up to specific trims to get them. That makes trim choice especially important if safety tech is a priority for you.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings a refined cabin, improved tech, and a more capable feel than its price suggests.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,306, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,087 average.
• It further emphasizes reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing is stable and inventory is healthy. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s broader all-around polish, the 2015 is worth a look; otherwise, the 2014 remains the more price-sensitive buy.
