Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Honda Civic 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Honda Civic stands out as a compact economy car that delivers the basics buyers want with unusual ease. It is described as meeting and exceeding small-car preferences for reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value, which makes it appealing to shoppers who want a straightforward used car that feels well-rounded rather than compromised.
What also helps the 2015 Civic’s appeal is how broadly it fits everyday use. Owner feedback echoes the same strengths, especially reliability, fuel efficiency, and a user-friendly design, while also pointing to a smooth ride and a spacious interior that suit commuters and first-time buyers. The main tradeoff is that some drivers find it lacking in power and missing features compared with newer models, so it is best viewed as a practical, value-focused choice rather than an especially exciting one.

The 2015 civic is a great value and great first car for a student or a commuter. It has great road feel, spunky power response, and good features. The visibility with the A-pillars is great thanks to the extra window. It will typically cost more vs. other competitors in the same class, but once you drive it you will understand why. I drove a Hyundai Elantra, which has almost all the same feature offerings in terms of technology and safety. For me, the Civic feels lighter, more powerful, more responsive.

If you find a listing below $11,433.55, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Honda Civic earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 8.67/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and user-friendly design, and they also call out its smooth ride and spacious interior. That lines up well with the overview’s focus on a practical compact economy car that fits commuters and first-time buyers especially well. The main tradeoff is that some drivers want more power and newer features, so you should view it as a well-rounded value play rather than an enthusiast pick.
With 24.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary points to reliability, and it also frames the car as a good-value choice that many drivers trust for everyday use. The expert drive notes reinforce that dependability with language about refined power delivery, composed handling, and a car that makes merging and climbing grades feel relatively effortless. The cost-effectiveness section adds that the Civic comes with 3 years or 36,000 miles of free roadside assistance.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a car that has been maintained well and not worn down by age or mileage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda Civic?
At 47.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or shows uneven wear. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that the electronics and safety systems still work as intended. Because this model is often bought for value and commuting, condition matters a lot when you compare similarly priced listings.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base LX trims are the most affordable, while higher trims add the touchscreen infotainment system, HondaLink connectivity, automatic climate control, LaneWatch technology, push-button engine start, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and aluminum wheels.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission, and the setup is tuned for smooth, efficient everyday driving rather than quick acceleration.
- Safety package: The Civic includes a standard reversing camera, and LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims.
- Infotainment: Higher trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with HondaLink smartphone connectivity and services, plus Bluetooth calling and text messaging; the system also supports Siri Eyes Free with an iPhone.
- Fuel efficiency: The Civic is described as delivering effortless fuel economy in the low 30-mpg range, with an EPA estimate of 33 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2015 Honda Civic trim should I buy?
The 2015 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX Sedan, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Si.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value-first choice if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the touchscreen and HondaLink features found higher up the range.
- EX Sedan: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 7-inch touchscreen, HondaLink, automatic climate control, LaneWatch, push-button start, a power sunroof, and automatic headlights.
- Civic Hybrid: Choose this if maximum efficiency matters most to you.
- Civic Si: Choose this if you want the most fun-to-drive version and care more about performance character than everyday thrift.
LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims.

If you find a listing below $11,433.55, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Honda Civic's resale value?
The current average of $12,229 sits slightly above last year's $12,085.
That kind of price movement suggests the Civic continues to hold buyer interest well, which is exactly what you want if you plan to sell later. A model that stays in demand tends to be easier to move without heavy discounting, especially when it has a reputation for value and efficiency. The relatively modest year-over-year increase also suggests the market is still supporting this generation rather than punishing it.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Honda Civic safe?
It earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Civic comes with a standard reversing camera, and HondaLink Assist can automatically call the authorities in the event of a collision when paired and activated. LaneWatch is standard on all but the LX and SE trims, but it is not a traditional blind-spot monitoring system, so you should decide whether that setup works for you. The safety content also notes that the system can add distraction because it requires another reference point when changing lanes.
Should I buy a 2015 Honda Civic or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 47.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.19% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It delivers strong reliability, fuel efficiency, safety, and value in a practical compact package.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $11,305, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,229 average.
- It feels refined and capable, with strong value and a near-luxury sense of quality.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,949, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,229 average.
- It brings a more modern, polished, and refined small-car feel.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and everyday usefulness, the 2015 is the safe middle ground. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2014 can save you money while still delivering many of the Civic traits shoppers want. If you want a newer-feeling cabin and can spend more, the 2016 is the upgrade path to consider.
