CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Taurus

Summary
With 532 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,828.00, 25.4% of 2014 Ford Tauruses for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Taurus 4.31 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Taurus stands out as a roomy, full-size sedan that blends comfort with a broad range of equipment. For this model year, the Taurus could be had with Ford’s 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which was the most fuel-efficient Taurus at the time, rated at 22 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The standard 3.5-liter V6 was also available, and the Taurus SHO remained the performance-oriented choice, using a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels. That mix of mainstream and high-performance powertrains helped give the Taurus a wider appeal than many large sedans.
Ford also gave the sixth-generation Taurus a meaningful refresh for 2013, and those updates carried into the 2014 model year. The changes included a new grille and front fascia, an updated suspension, the latest version of Ford’s Sync and MyFordTouch infotainment software, and improved front seats. The Taurus Limited could be equipped with advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support. Even the entry-level Taurus SE was well equipped, with 17-inch wheels, automatic headlamps, a keypad for entry, a power driver’s seat, and a six-speaker audio system.
For buyers, the 2014 Ford Taurus is appealing because it offers a spacious cabin, a comfortable ride, and a strong list of available features in a traditional full-size sedan package. At the same time, it is not the most exciting choice in the segment, and the available owner feedback points to some frustrations with touch screen responsiveness and cup holder design. Still, for shoppers prioritizing comfort, safety, and a substantial feel, the 2014 Taurus has a clear identity.

Nothing can compare to the Ford Taurus for the price. Very comfortable and reliable car. Unfortunately Ford quit making sedans . Only the SUV’ which definitely cannot compare to a sedan as nice as the Taurus. That is a big mistake by Ford.

Is the 2014 Ford Taurus a good car?
Generally — the 4.31/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Taurus for its comfort, smooth ride, and features, and many also value the sense of safety it brings for family use. The roomy, full-size sedan layout fits you well if you want a substantial cabin and a traditional comfort-first driving experience. With 22.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Ford Taurus reliable?
Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability and a dependable feel, with many drivers describing the car as a vehicle they can count on over time. That said, some owners mention touch screen responsiveness and a few feature-related annoyances, so you should separate mechanical confidence from cabin convenience when you evaluate a used example. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a car with deferred maintenance or unresolved wear rather than a fundamentally weak platform.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Taurus?
At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, electronics, and signs of uneven wear, since those are the areas most likely to affect your ownership experience. Pay close attention to how the cabin features operate, because condition and functionality matter a lot on a comfort-oriented sedan like this.

What is the 2014 Ford Taurus's resale value?
The current average of $8,848 sits slightly above last year's $8,661.
That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which can help support resale confidence if you buy carefully. If you keep the car in clean condition and avoid examples with accident history, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. Demand is also helped by the Taurus's comfort-first appeal, especially for shoppers who want a roomy sedan with a substantial feel.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 22.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.16% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want a roomy, comfort-focused full-size sedan with strong owner approval and a decent number of value-priced listings to compare. If your priority is simply finding the lowest entry price, a nearby year may still be worth cross-shopping, but the 2014 remains a sensible target when you want a balanced mix of satisfaction, availability, and market support.
