CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Taurus

Summary
With 554 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,606, 26.4% of 2014 Ford Tauruses for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Taurus 4.31 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Taurus stands out as a roomy, full-size sedan that was aimed at buyers who wanted a spacious, reliable car without a lot of drama. By this point in the Taurus’s run, Ford had already given it a more attractive, if still somewhat pedestrian, design, and the car’s appeal was less about flash than about being a practical large sedan. For shoppers focused on value, that combination of space and straightforward transportation is a big part of the Taurus’s identity.
For 2014, the Taurus also offered a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which remained on the menu through the 2017 model year and delivered the best fuel economy of any Taurus at the time, with EPA ratings of 22 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The refreshed sixth-generation Taurus had already gained a new grille and front fascia, updated suspension, the latest version of Ford’s Sync and MyFordTouch infotainment software, and improved front seats. The Taurus Limited was especially well equipped, with available advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support.
At the same time, the 2014 Ford Taurus was not trying to be the most exciting sedan in its class. The source describes non-SHO models as having pedestrian performance and outdated technology, and owner feedback echoes that balance by praising comfort, reliability, and a smooth ride while also noting touch screen responsiveness and cup holder design as annoyances. That mix makes the 2014 Taurus appealing to buyers who value comfort, safety, and a large cabin more than sharp handling or cutting-edge tech.

I love my car! It was the best investment I have made. It handles awesome in the snow and overall has amazing handling and speed. I feel 100% safe putting my kids in the back seat and taking off on a long road trip! HANDS DOWN! Best 4 door car ever!!

Nothing can compare to the Ford Taurus for the price. Very comfortable and reliable car. Unfortunately Ford quit making sedans . Only the SUV’ which definitely cannot compare to a sedan as nice as the Taurus. That is a big mistake by Ford.

The car drives great, but there are a few quirks. The cup holder covers are hard to latch, I experienced this in several Taurus, and the touch screen lags in unresponsiveness.

How much does the 2014 Ford Taurus cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,591 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,942 |
| Year-Round High | $9,064 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,576 |

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
With 552 listings available, you have a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2014 Ford Taurus a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Ford Taurus earns 4.31/5, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, reliability, smooth ride, and family-friendly feel, and the car’s roomy cabin and straightforward large-sedan layout fit shoppers who want practical transportation more than flash. The tradeoff is that some owners mention touch screen responsiveness and cup holder design as annoyances, so it makes the most sense if you value space, comfort, and an easygoing driving experience. With 26.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Ford Taurus reliable?
Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident counting on the car for everyday use. That said, a few owners mention maintenance concerns, so a careful used-car inspection still matters. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a neglected example rather than a fundamentally weak model.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Taurus?
At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, signs of uneven wear, and any evidence of poor repairs. Because owner feedback also mentions some feature annoyances and maintenance concerns, it is smart to test every major control and make sure the car feels well cared for.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Taurus?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 552 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 59.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,942, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Taurus's resale value?
The current average of $8,591 sits slightly above last year's $8,576.
That small increase suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to resell later. A steady price trend usually means you are less likely to see sharp depreciation swings in the near term. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable shot at preserving value better than with a model that is dropping quickly.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 26.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want a roomy full-size sedan with steady pricing and strong owner approval, the 2014 is a sensible place to focus your search. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a similar Taurus offers a better deal or cleaner history, but the 2014 already gives you a balanced mix of value, comfort, and market stability.
