Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Taurus stands out as a roomy, full-size sedan that blends comfort with a practical feature set. For this model year, Ford added a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine to the Taurus lineup, and it delivered the best fuel economy of any Taurus at the time, with EPA ratings of 22 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The Taurus also remained available with the standard 3.5-liter V6, and the lineup included the well-equipped Taurus SE, SEL, and Limited trims, giving buyers a range of choices within the same spacious package.
This generation’s appeal also came from its mix of everyday usability and available technology. The 2013 refresh brought a new grille and front fascia, an updated suspension, the latest version of Ford’s Sync and MyFordTouch infotainment software, and improved front seats, all of which carried into the 2014 model year. The Taurus Limited could be optioned with advanced safety features such as blind-spot warning with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and collision warning with brake support. Owners often praise the car’s comfort, reliability, smooth ride, and safety, though some note that the touch screen can be unresponsive and that the cup holder design is not ideal.

Nothing can compare to the Ford Taurus for the price. Very comfortable and reliable car. Unfortunately Ford quit making sedans . Only the SUV’ which definitely cannot compare to a sedan as nice as the Taurus. That is a big mistake by Ford.

The car drives great, but there are a few quirks. The cup holder covers are hard to latch, I experienced this in several Taurus, and the touch screen lags in unresponsiveness.

Owners consistently highlight its comfort, reliability, and features, and many also appreciate the smooth ride and the sense of safety it provides for families. The Taurus fits well if you want a roomy full-size sedan with practical everyday usability and available technology. With 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Ford Taurus reliable?
Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a car that owners feel comfortable counting on over time. That said, some drivers mention maintenance concerns and a few feature-related annoyances, so you should still expect the usual used-car variability from one example to the next. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a car that has been maintained inconsistently or has unresolved wear items.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Taurus?
At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of prior collision repair, and the operation of the touch screen and other convenience features. Because this model is often chosen for comfort and family use, you should also pay close attention to interior wear and overall maintenance quality.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Taurus?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.
- Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 506 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 8.09% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 59.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,942, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Taurus's resale value?
The current average of $8,945 sits slightly above last year's $8,276.
That price movement suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy carefully. If you keep the car in good condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell. Strong demand for a roomy, comfort-focused sedan can also help keep interest steady among used buyers.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 8.09% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
The 2014 makes sense if you want a roomy, comfort-oriented full-size sedan and you find a clean example with strong maintenance history. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2014 still offers a useful mix of owner satisfaction, available inventory, and market support for resale.
