How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,244 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Mustang earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

You get a strong mix of powerful performance, classic design, and an engaging driving experience. The overview also points to a car that feels thoroughly developed rather than dated, which fits the recurring praise for handling, exhaust sound, and the Coyote engine. For shoppers who care more about style and driving enjoyment than everyday practicality, that combination is especially appealing.

30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights powerful performance, impressive handling, and a classic design that owners enjoy living with. The expert notes also describe the Mustang as a mature, well-developed version of the nameplate, and the cost-effectiveness commentary says its dependability is above average. The same analysis also points to strong residual values, which usually supports confidence in long-term ownership.

If you buy used, the main risk is choosing a car that has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this car is often bought for performance, it also makes sense to focus on wear items, drivetrain condition, and how well the car has been maintained. If you are comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is usually worth paying more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Mustang carries a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, the smartphone-linked SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. GT trims add a 5.0-liter powerplant, coupe and convertible body styles, and available amenities including touchscreen navigation with real-time traffic information, upgraded Brembo brakes, a programmable key, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, smartphone-linked SYNC infotainment, HID headlights, functional hood vents, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it runs on 87-octane gas. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, and the manual-transmission GT is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist paired with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology, and the available Electronics Package adds a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month subscription to Travel Link, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest price. You get the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, so it covers the essentials without the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value choice if you want a more livable daily driver. It adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V8 performance and the stronger hardware that comes with it. The GT brings the 5.0-liter powerplant, and the content also points to available upgrades like Brembo brakes, navigation, upgraded audio, and larger wheels.
• GT Premium: This is the most complete version in the lineup if you want the strongest mix of performance and features. It adds the GT’s V8 character and includes standard Track Apps, which provide a stopwatch, drag-strip light tree graphic, g-force meter, braking timer, and more.

The safety content notes that the Mustang does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,244 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 58.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,332, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,726 sits slightly above last year's $15,293.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you buy carefully and keep the car in good condition, you should have a decent chance of preserving value better than a weaker-demand used sports car. The relatively tight year-round price band also suggests buyers are still willing to pay for the right example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earned top marks in all of its crash tests from the IIHS, and it earns a five-star rating for rollover protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist paired with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The safety content also notes that the car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.83% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 is described as the culmination of five decades of engineering development, with especially strong straight-line performance.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,600, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,726 average.
• It brings a redesigned version of the Mustang with big gains in dynamics and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it delivers strong performance and a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer redesign with broader appeal, the 2015 is the upgrade path to consider.
