How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,251 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Mustang earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

User feedback repeatedly points to its powerful performance, impressive handling, and classic design, while the overview frames it as a polished, well-developed take on a long-running performance icon. That combination makes it especially appealing if you want a car that prioritizes driving enjoyment and style over everyday practicality. The market also shows 29.7% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights the Mustang’s powerful performance, classic design, and impressive handling, while also describing the driving experience as thrilling and memorable. The expert notes also point to above-average dependability, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on if it has been maintained well.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for properly, especially given the performance-oriented way many examples were driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with performance upgrades or signs of hard use. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you want. Because this model can be bought in very different configurations, it pays to verify the exact features on the specific car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base car is the most stripped-down version, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, the smartphone-linked SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. GT trims add the 5.0-liter powerplant, and GT Premium models layer on more amenities.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it runs on 87-octane gas. GT models use a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, but they require premium fuel.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include more advanced systems such as blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology for hands-free calling and voice control of apps on linked mobile devices. Available upgrades include a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month Travel Link subscription, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a rear-view camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.7-liter V6 is rated at 31 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual. The GT is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 mpg highway with the manual transmission, or 18 city, 25 highway, and 20 combined with the available automatic.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the least expensive way into the Mustang, and it gives you the core formula with a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the Mustang look and feel without paying for extras.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more comfortable daily driver. It adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: Choose this if you want the real performance jump. It brings the 5.0-liter V8, plus available amenities such as touchscreen navigation, upgraded Brembo brakes, a programmable key, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, smartphone-linked SYNC, HID headlights, functional hood vents, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
• GT Premium: This is the most complete version if you want the V8 experience with more comfort and tech. It adds the GT’s performance hardware and can be equipped with features like Track Apps, which includes a stopwatch, g-force meter, and braking timer.

The safety content also notes that the car lacks several advanced driver-assistance features, so you should not expect modern active-safety coverage on any trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,251 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 58.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,327, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,604 sits slightly above last year's $15,184.

That upward move suggests the Mustang is holding buyer interest well enough to support values in the near term. If you own one, a clean history and strong condition should help you stay closer to the top of the market when it’s time to sell. The fact that prices are still above last year’s level also points to steady demand rather than a softening market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earns top marks in the IIHS crash tests cited for the prior model year, and it earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for rollover protection.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning. The main caveat is that the published IIHS results referenced are for the 2013 model year, not this one.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.77% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert notes describe it as the culmination of five decades of engineering development and say it has never been better.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,599, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,604 average.
• It is a redesigned Mustang with broader dynamic and technological appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid expert praise, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer redesign with broader tech and dynamic improvements, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.
