Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fusion stands out for the way it drives. A solid chassis, strong brakes, and responsive suspension help it feel and handle like a much lighter car, which gives it a more agile character than its size might suggest. That balance of composure and responsiveness is a major part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road.
It also benefits from being one year removed from a redesign, and it continues to add tech to an already-attractive package. With the standard features of the Hybrid trim, it does a good job of nipping at the heels of more luxury-minded competitors while still remaining a value in the class. That combination of upscale ambition and accessible pricing helps make the 2014 Fusion distinctive.
Owners also tend to praise its sleek design, reliability, high fuel economy, and spaciousness, along with features such as remote start and navigation. On the downside, some drivers have found the dashboard controls confusing and wanted better interior refinement, while a few wished for more power and stronger braking performance.

Its a good little car. Gas milage is great, has a bunch of features that make it comfortable to ride in. This one I have doesnt come with auto start or a heated steering wheel, but its definitely worth it for the value

Enjoy the performance of the cars overall power and handling, but brakes are weak and seems to have a bit too much turbo lag. Would recommend car for someone looking for a nice performance sedan under $25,000. Would like more room in back seat for passengers.

How much does the 2014 Ford Fusion cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $7,759 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,618.99 |
| Year-Round High | $8,191.45 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,191 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.27% |
Prices have softened 5.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 907 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare against. If you find a listing below $7,618.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion a good car?
Yes — 4.71/5 owners rate it 4.71/5, and the expert rating is 7.83/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its sleek design, reliability, and high fuel economy, and they also like the spacious cabin and available features such as remote start and navigation. That lines up with the overview: you get a midsize sedan that feels polished on the road, adds tech to an already-attractive package, and still aims at value-minded shoppers. With 25.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they feel confident counting on it over time. The expert drive notes also emphasize that the hybrid powertrain’s transitions are quick and seamless, which supports the impression of a car that behaves predictably in daily use. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is less about the basic concept and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean service history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or uneven panel fit. Focus on how the cabin controls, brakes, and hybrid-related systems feel in real use, since those are the areas where the car’s character and condition will matter most. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest history and best-maintained example ahead of the cheapest one.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Titanium trim sits above the SE and the new-for-2014 S trim, and it brings a more upscale presentation with leather, active park assist, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, navigation, inflatable rear seatbelts, and the Driver Assistance Package. Base-trim examples will be missing some of those convenience and safety-enhancing features.
- Powertrain: The Fusion Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a CVT. It is not quick on paper, but it delivers immediate electric power, seamless transitions, and strong efficiency, with electric-only operation up to 85 mph.
- Safety package: The available Driver Assistance Package includes lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert. Standard safety equipment also includes eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, 4-wheel disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist.
- Infotainment: The Titanium trim can include navigation and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. The touchscreen is easy to read, but the interface can feel complex, and the system can demand too much attention while driving.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid was rated at 44 mpg city, 41 highway, and 42 combined after a software update, and the regenerative braking system helps maximize energy recovery.
Which 2014 Ford Fusion trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fusion is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The S trim is the simplest path into the lineup, so you give up the more upscale cabin presentation and the richer feature content found higher up.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SE trim is the most balanced choice if you want a better feature mix without jumping all the way to the top.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium trim is the one to target if you want the most luxury-leaning experience, including the strongest tech and comfort content.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable here.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert are part of the Driver Assistance Package, so check whether a used example has it.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fusion?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 907 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.27% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,618.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $7,759 sits slightly below last year's $8,191.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but also limits near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and documentation will matter more than ever, because buyers will likely compare your car against a fairly broad pool of similarly priced listings. A clean history and strong maintenance record should help you stand out.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fusion safe?
It earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and three-star ratings in front-seat side crash tests. The IIHS gave it its highest rating of Good in all tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The Fusion’s safety equipment is extensive, with eight airbags, inflatable rear seatbelts, traction and stability control, blind-spot alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep, SOS Post Crash, and 911 Assist. The available Driver Assistance Package adds lane-keep assist and blind-spot alert, so check whether a used example has that equipment if you want the fullest safety setup. The main caveat is the weaker NHTSA side-crash result, which is worth weighing if safety is a top priority.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.27% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It blends polished road manners with added tech and strong value.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $8,469, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $7,759 average.
- It adds a more stylish, well-rounded feel with a few notable tradeoffs.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the market still offers a decent number of deals. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year feel, the 2015 is the alternative to compare, but the 2014 remains the more price-conscious buy.
