How much does the 2014 Ford Focus cost?

Prices have softened 2.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,174 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Ford Focus earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, excellent fuel economy, and useful features like the sound system and comfortable front seats. It also fits buyers who want a small car that feels more substantial and polished than a typical economy car, with a composed chassis and responsive suspension. Even so, recurring transmission concerns remain part of the ownership conversation, so it suits you best if you value efficiency, features, and a more refined feel while staying mindful of the automatic-transmission reputation.

Only 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities but still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as stylish, fuel-efficient, and enjoyable to drive, and many value it for money. The same owner feedback also points to recurring transmission issues, which is the main reliability concern you should keep in mind. The expert drive notes that the dual-clutch automatic can hunt and shudder in traffic, while the manual transmission is presented as a simpler alternative for some buyers. For used shoppers, that means long-term ownership risk is most tied to transmission condition and how the car was driven and maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Focus?

At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has the automatic transmission. Focus on signs of past body damage, transmission behavior in stop-and-go driving, and whether the car feels consistent under acceleration and braking. A clean-looking listing is not enough here; condition and maintenance history matter more than cosmetics.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Titanium trim adds a more upscale feel with features like the handling package, navigation, and upgraded audio, while S and SE trims are more basic and use rear drum brakes instead of 4-wheel discs.
• Powertrain: The car uses a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline 4-cylinder with 160 hp and a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic, and the manual transmission is described as a simpler alternative that can improve acceleration but costs some fuel economy.
• Safety package: Seven airbags come standard, and the car includes a driver’s knee airbag. Higher trims get 4-wheel discs, while S and SE trims have rear drum brakes.
• Infotainment: The Titanium includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Ford Sync, MyFord Touch, navigation, and a rear-view camera, plus wireless-style convenience features like keyless entry and start.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic returns 27 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, while the manual drops 1 mpg on both ends.

Which 2014 Ford Focus trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Focus is offered in 1 trim level: Titanium.

Here's the short version:

The Titanium is the trim that best shows what this Focus can be when it is equipped more fully. It adds the upgraded Sony sound system, the 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, and a rear-view camera, so it feels much more complete than the lower trims. It also gets 4-wheel discs, which is a meaningful hardware advantage over S and SE. If you want the most polished version of this Focus and can live with the MyFord Touch/Sync complexity, this is the one to target.

The safety content notes that S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while higher trims get 4-wheel discs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Focus?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with some room to find value if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,174 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,797, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Focus's resale value?

The current average of $6,827 sits slightly below last year's $7,037.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. On the other hand, transmission concerns can weigh on buyer confidence, so condition and documentation will matter when you eventually resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus safe?

The 2014 Ford Focus earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded it its highest rating of Good in all tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag. The safety content also notes that S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while higher trims get 4-wheel discs, so braking hardware varies by trim. The Titanium’s 4-wheel discs and summer tires help it stop more confidently, while lower trims give up some braking performance. That means you should pay close attention to trim level if safety equipment and braking performance are priorities.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Focus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its composed chassis, responsive suspension, and still-fresh redesign.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,429, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,827 average.
• It was refreshed into a more sophisticated, Europe-influenced compact with broader configuration choices.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option with strong value potential, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you are willing to spend more for a refreshed feel and broader flexibility, the 2015 is the better alternative.
