CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fiesta
overall

Summary
With 321 currently listed for sale and an average price of $6,388, 28.7% of 2014 Ford Fiestas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fiesta 4.33 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
66.7% of 2014 Fiesta models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fiesta stands out as a subcompact that tries to be more than just practical transportation. Its mid-life refresh gave it standout looks, and that matters because the design helps draw attention to what the car offers inside: a well-equipped interior with artful styling and important entertainment technology. It is also the kind of car that can appeal to buyers who want a city car that feels a little more expressive and mature than the usual basic commuter.
On the road, the Fiesta is composed in city and highway driving, with little body roll. It can also be genuinely fun if you know how to use a manual transmission well. That combination of tidy handling and playful character gives it a distinctive personality in the segment. At the same time, owner feedback points to some appealing everyday touches such as backup cameras and heated seats, while also noting concerns about engine reliability, including head gasket issues, which is an important drawback for some shoppers.

The Ford fiesta is a very good fit for me as I went from a V8 to a four-cylinder car so far $36 fills up my gas tank, which is great. Last me about two weeks The car, roomie, luxurious, and very reliable.

I really appreciate the compact design of the Ford Fiesta. Its over twenty miles per gallon which is actually pretty fuel efficient. Its got everything it needs for a smooth and comfortable ride. Id say its like the little brother of the Ford Focus but its also the cousin of both Mustang and Ford Shogun

I think this is a great car for the features that it brings. This car is small on the outside but very spacious inside. Plenty of bells and whistles come with the Titanium version. I personally like the backup camera, heated seats, and sun roof that the car comes with.

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize an inspection that looks closely at body repairs, panel alignment, and signs of prior damage. Because owner feedback also raises engine-reliability concerns, you should pay extra attention to how the car starts, idles, and drives under load. Focus on overall condition first, then make sure the equipment and safety systems work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S trim comes standard with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start.
- Powertrain: All trims use a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is recommended for making the most of the power, while a 6-speed automatic is available; the manual is also described as forgiving and easy to learn on.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Crash testing shows 4 stars overall, with 5 stars for the driver in a frontal crash, 4 stars for the front passenger, 4 stars for front-row side impact, and 5 stars for second-row side impact.
- Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality. The system is described as having small buttons and occasional freezes, but it handles phone pairing and music integration well.
- Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 highway, while the 6-speed automatic is listed at 29 city and 39 highway. A 1.0-liter turbocharged engine is also mentioned as delivering as much as 35 mpg on the highway.
Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, and it gives you Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and the multifunction message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Fiesta, but you give up the convenience and comfort upgrades found higher up.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to focus on.
- Titanium: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. It suits you best if you want the most convenience and parking help from the factory.
The Titanium trim adds the backup camera and reverse-sensing system, while the SE brings MyKey and ambient lighting that help it stand out as the value pick.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 325 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.48% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $6,340, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?
The current average of $6,384 sits slightly below last year's $6,615.
That softer pricing suggests the Fiesta has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The model’s value-oriented reputation also helps support demand among budget-minded shoppers.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash and second-row side impact, and four-star ratings for the front passenger in a frontal crash and front-row side impact.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The main caveat is that the crash results are solid rather than class-leading, so you should still prioritize a clean history and a well-kept example.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.48% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 refresh gives the Fiesta standout looks and a better-equipped interior.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $6,367, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $6,384 average.
- It adds an EcoBoost model and a styling update that broadens its appeal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want the refreshed styling, strong value, and a well-equipped small car at a softened price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2015 is worth a look because it can cost slightly less while adding a newer update path.
