CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Ford Fiesta
overall

Summary
With 309 currently listed for sale and an average price of $6,361.00, 29.1% of 2014 Ford Fiestas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Fiesta 4.33 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
66.7% of 2014 Fiesta models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Fiesta stands out as a subcompact that tries to be more appealing than merely practical. Its mid-life refresh gave it standout looks, and that matters because the design helps draw attention to what the car offers: a well-equipped interior with artful styling and entertainment technology. It is also described as a car that can make city-car ownership feel more desirable, especially for buyers who want something small without giving up a sense of personality.
Behind the styling, the Fiesta has a composed road feel in both city and highway driving, with little body roll. It can also be a lot of fun if you know how to use a manual transmission well. That combination of agility and driver involvement gives it a character that many small cars lack. At the same time, the appeal is not just about driving enjoyment; the cabin equipment and overall presentation help make it feel like a sensible hatch that still has some style.
Owners also praise the 2014 Ford Fiesta for its cute design, fuel efficiency, and fun driving experience, along with features such as backup cameras and heated seats. It is often seen as a good value for a compact car. The main caution is that some owners have raised concerns about engine reliability, including head gasket issues, which is an important drawback to keep in mind.

The Ford fiesta is a very good fit for me as I went from a V8 to a four-cylinder car so far $36 fills up my gas tank, which is great. Last me about two weeks The car, roomie, luxurious, and very reliable.

I really appreciate the compact design of the Ford Fiesta. Its over twenty miles per gallon which is actually pretty fuel efficient. Its got everything it needs for a smooth and comfortable ride. Id say its like the little brother of the Ford Focus but its also the cousin of both Mustang and Ford Shogun

I think this is a great car for the features that it brings. This car is small on the outside but very spacious inside. Plenty of bells and whistles come with the Titanium version. I personally like the backup camera, heated seats, and sun roof that the car comes with.

The expert performance notes also suggest a car that is easy to live with, with a forgiving clutch and composed road manners that support everyday dependability. If you are buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is whether prior maintenance and repairs were handled carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or shows signs of uneven wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the car’s equipment still works as intended, since small-car value can swing quickly based on how well it was cared for.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base S trim comes standard with Ford’s Sync multimedia system, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a multifunction message center with an LCD information screen. The SE adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey, while the Titanium adds a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start.
- Powertrain: All trims use a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower and 112 pound-feet of torque. A 5-speed manual is the recommended setup, while a 6-speed automatic is available; the manual is rated at 27 mpg city/38 highway, and the automatic is listed at 29 city/39 highway.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The crash-test results show 4 stars overall, with 5 stars for the driver in a frontal crash, 4 stars for the front passenger, 4 stars for front-row side impact, and 5 stars for second-row side impact.
- Infotainment: Ford Sync comes standard, including MyFordTouch touchscreen functionality. The system is described as having small buttons and occasional freezes, but it handles phone pairing, voice control, and music integration well.
- Fuel efficiency: The 5-speed manual is rated at 27 mpg city/38 highway, the automatic at 29 city/39 highway, and the available 1.0-liter turbocharged engine can deliver as much as 35 mpg on the highway.
Which 2014 Ford Fiesta trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Fiesta is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Fiesta experience with Sync, an auxiliary audio input jack, and the multifunction message center. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need extra convenience features.
- SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds cruise control, a trip computer, 7-color ambient lighting, and MyKey without jumping all the way to the top trim. If you want the most balanced mix of price and equipment, this is the one to target.
- Titanium: This is the trim to choose if you want the most convenience features, including a backup camera, reverse-sensing system, and push-button start. It suits you best if you want a more fully equipped small car and are willing to pay more for it.
The safety equipment is broadly shared across the lineup, but the Titanium adds the most notable convenience and parking aids.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Fiesta?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.
- Deal availability: 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 327 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $6,355.53, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Fiesta's resale value?
The current average of $6,422 sits slightly below last year's $7,026.
That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you are thinking about future value, the best protection is to buy a clean, well-maintained example at a strong price.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Ford Fiesta safe?
earns 4 stars overall from NHTSA, with 5 stars for the driver in a frontal crash, 4 stars for the front passenger in the same test, 4 stars for front-row side impact, and 5 stars for second-row side impact.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes dual-stage first-row airbags, driver's knee airbags, side impact airbags, side curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, improved side-impact structures, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The crash-test results are solid for a small car, but the front-passenger frontal result and front-row side-impact result are the main caveats to keep in mind.
Should I buy a 2014 Ford Fiesta or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 refresh gives the Fiesta standout looks and a well-equipped interior with strong entertainment tech.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $6,636, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,422 average.
- It adds a more contemporary grille, revised rear styling, and an EcoBoost model.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and the market still offers a decent number of deals. If you are willing to pay more for a fresher look and a bit more variety, the 2015 is the better alternative.
