How much does the 2014 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 6.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,823 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — owners give it 4.5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The review summary repeatedly highlights comfort, space, performance, and stylish design, along with good value for money. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a family-friendly midsize SUV with a roomy, practical layout and available convenience features. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable in everyday use, especially when it comes to comfort and performance over time. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs and concerns with specific high-mileage examples, so condition matters a lot on the used market. For long-term ownership, a well-documented service history is especially important if you want to reduce surprise repair risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples where wear and maintenance gaps matter more. Focus your evaluation on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be picky and wait for the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,823 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,268, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $9,268 sits slightly below last year's $9,873.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help if you buy at the right number. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Demand should be helped by the Explorer’s broad appeal as a roomy, comfortable family SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2014 is a strong choice if you want a well-equipped Explorer with solid owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, you can also use the broader market to compare condition and pricing carefully, since the best value will usually come from the cleanest, best-documented example rather than simply the cheapest one.
