What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Buick LaCrosse?

At 56% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage car or one with a premium trim. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and any signs of prior bodywork or electrical issues, since the car’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the cleanest example is often worth paying a little more for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the Leather trim adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. The Premium I adds an 11-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, and an upgraded suspension, while Premium II adds 20-inch alloy wheels and navigation.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder eAssist hybrid with 182 hp, 172 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA estimate of 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. An available 3.6-liter V6 makes 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque and is offered with FWD or AWD, with the AWD version returning 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
• Safety package: Driver Confidence Package 1 adds adaptive HID headlights, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor, plus a head-up display. Driver Confidence Package 2 adds intelligent cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and a Safety Alert seat. Package availability varies by trim, with Driver Confidence Package 2 offered on Premium I and II models.
• Infotainment: The IntelliLink system uses an 8-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth streaming audio, iPod compatibility, Pandora access, Bluetooth calling, steering-wheel controls, and enhanced voice recognition. The gauge cluster screen can also show fuel economy, tire pressure, maps for the optional navigation system, and safety alerts.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard eAssist setup is rated at 25 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. The available V6 is rated at 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined in FWD form, or 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2014 Buick LaCrosse trim should I buy?

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse is offered in 4 trim levels: base trim, Leather, Premium I, Premium II.

Here's the short version:

• base trim: This is the value-oriented choice if you want the standard eAssist powertrain, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the core comfort and convenience features without moving up the price ladder.
• Leather: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a rear-view camera, push-button start, heated power front seats with memory, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, and leather upholstery. It also opens the door to the V6 and AWD, which broadens your choices if you want more power or traction.
• Premium I: Choose this if you want a more upscale daily driver, since it adds the Bose audio system, heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade. It also supports the more advanced safety package.
• Premium II: This is the pick if you want the most equipment from the factory, including 20-inch wheels and navigation, but it makes the most sense if you specifically want the top-spec experience rather than the best value.

Driver Confidence Package 1 and Driver Confidence Package 2 add important safety technology, so prioritize a trim that includes the package you want or can be equipped with it.

What is the 2014 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?

The current average of $11,151 sits slightly below last year's $11,463.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. The current market also shows enough inventory to compare examples carefully before you commit.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?

If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.

How does the 2014 Buick LaCrosse compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Impala?

Our experts score the 2014 Buick LaCrosse 7.8/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Impala 7.8/10.
