2011 Chevrolet Tahoe LT Review

love my tahoe

I really love my Tahoe but wish I would have gotten the bench seat in the second row instead of the bucket seats. The 3rd row is not enough space and there is no room behind the 3rd row for cargo, wish I had the bench seat and just removed the 3rd seat.

Avg. Dealer Rating: (11 reviews) "I'm really torn about how to review Reno Tahoe Auto Group. On the one hand, everyone we dealt with (from the girl who responded to my online inquiry to the sales team to the finance guy) was very responsive, very friendly, very attentive, very accommodating. The facility is nice, and they have their own service department and do safety checks and maintenance onsite. They do a lot to increase confidence when buying a previously owned vehicle, and I appreciated that, as a customer. Ultimately we did end up buying the car we came in to see, but I left feeling really disappointed with the overall experience. We did our research and made a full cash offer that was in line with both KBB and NADA guide valuations. The car is very basic, no upgrades or special features, and has higher than average mileage - but it’s clean and in good shape and what we were looking for, so we made a fair offer and were willing to work out a deal, even considering all the extra fees and taxes that come with purchasing a vehicle from a dealership. Their asking price was several thousand above even the highest valuations. Although we were repeatedly told that they would "work with us on the numbers", when it came time to buy, that turned out not to be the case. They went through great lengths to explain “supply and demand”, all that they had “invested” into the vehicle, how they were really not making any profit on the car at the price they were offering (which I don't believe, despite the all the numbers they walked us through), and basically why they really couldn't negotiate on price, despite their initial offerings. A large portion of their rationale of their valuation, to me, felt akin to me asking for them to deduct the costs of my travel expenses for gas, accommodations, meals, etc from the final purchase price. I understand that there are costs associated with their side of the transaction, and, for the most part, businesses want to recoup those costs by passing them on to the customer – I get it. But, to an extent, those are also the costs of doing business. And I, in no way, believe that they lose money on their transactions. If they purchase a vehicle at an auction for a price that is above its actual value, that’s bad business on their end – suffice it say, after much go-round, I ultimately felt like they were taking advantage of us. We debated back and forth, asked lots of questions, examined the vehicle again, looked at their “numbers”, met with their service department, talked with multiple team members – and decided, even though we weren’t thrilled with the price, we liked the car and we would accept their deal. As we proceeded, they told us that we would have the option to pay taxes when we registered the vehicle back at home, thus lowering our "out the door" price. We agreed to that, wrote the check, and while waiting for paperwork, they came back and said actually, we couldn't do that, we'd have to write another check or cancel the deal. Now, we had traveled several hundred miles to come make this purchase, and everyone we worked with had asked us about that - and every person we dealt with had told us that they frequently have buyers come from out of town - so I feel like that's a piece of information that they should have been clear on, and again, not made offers they couldn't stand by. Because, of course, that added over $1000 additional dollars to our "out the door" price. And, at that point, I was actually to the point of tears. I just felt really trampled by them. Maybe that's just the car-buying process, or maybe that's just what happens when you buy through a used car dealership. Ultimately, we needed to leave with a car, we liked the one we had seen at RTAG - so we made the decision to proceed with the purchase. I know we could have walked away and looked for other options, but in the end, we did make a choice to do business here. While I am happy with the car that we purchased, I would not return to them for another vehicle, nor am I likely to refer friends or family to them in the future."
