Built on Nissan’s highly regarded “D” platform, the 2010 Nissan Murano truly performs like a sedan. Essentially a carryover from 2009, when it was the recipient of a significant re-design, the 2010 Murano features 32-odd cubic feet of luggage capacity, and with the rear seats folded down, 64 cubic feet of total cargo area. The Murano isn’t cheap, nor is it particularly fuel efficient, but it is loaded to the gills with creature comforts, styling features, and, in the case of the LE, an almost luxurious ambiance. A single powertrain is offered for the entire 2010 Murano lineup, consisting of a 3.5-liter variable-valve-timed V6 engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This combo puts out 265 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque while munching on Nissan-recommended premium gas at a tepid 18/23 mpg. Though capable of towing some 3,500 pounds, towing equipment is not offered as either a factory- or dealer-installed option. For standard amenities, the 2010 Nissan Murano S offers 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, cloth front bucket seats, reclining split-folding rear seats, remote power door locks and windows, power outside mirrors, keyless ignition, cruise with steering-wheel-mounted controls, dual-zone climate control, alloy and leather trim on the steering-wheel, shift knob, front console, and doors, as well as a 6-CD changer with six speakers. Into this mix, the SL tosses a roof rack and eight-way power driver’s seat. The high-end LE, meanwhile, adds 20-inch alloy wheels, heated leather-appointed seating, heated mirrors, memory for seat, mirror, and steering-wheel settings for two drivers, a rear-view backup camera, Bluetooth communications technology, a universal remote garage door opener, and premium Bose audio components with satellite radio and 11 speakers. Options for the Murano S trim level include the Aero Package with front bumper, side skirts, and rear overlay, as well as front and rear splash guards.
