Overview

The Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV receives only minor updates for 2009. All '09 CX-9 trims now come equipped with a trip computer and Bluetooth phone compatibility as standard equipment. A Power Seat Package for the CX-9's entry-level Sport trim adds heated seats and heated outside mirrors, while the optional Moonroof and Bose Audio Package now includes Sirius satellite radio, as does the Rear Seat Entertainment System Package. Although the mid-level Touring trim remains unchanged for '09, the top-of-the-line Grand Touring trim receives an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with Homelink.
Introduced in 2007 and now in its third year of production, the CX-9 crossover SUV features sport-oriented styling, with a smooth front end, an angled windshield, a tapered roofline, and chrome-accented sides that sweep back into a sleek tail. A stiff unibody chassis ensures a solid ride and agile handling, while a five-star crash rating for front and side impacts from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ensures the safety of occupants.
The CX-9 seats seven passengers in three rows. Large rear doors and an easy-sliding second row make it easy to access the rear row of seats, which comfortably accommodates adults. The sliding second row of seats also makes it easy to adjust legroom for rear-seat passengers. With all three rows occupied, the CX-9 provides more than 17 cubic feet of cargo space, but by folding down both rows of rear seats, drivers can open up more than 100 cubic feet.
Standard features across the line include anti-pinch power windows, power door locks with two-stage unlocking, three-zone air conditioning, map lights, and cupholders for all three rows. The mid-level Touring trim adds such standard features as heated sideview mirrors and a number of optional features, including a powered rear hatch and a DVD navigation system. The high-end Grand Touring trim adds indirect interior lighting and a Smartcard advanced keyless entry system, among other features.
All CX-9 trims come with Dynamic Stability Control and traction control, roll stability control, advanced dual front airbags, side air curtain airbags with rollover protection, antilock brakes with electronic braking distribution, and a crushable brake pedal, which prevents injury to the driver's foot in the event of an accident. Optional features across the line include a power glass sliding moonroof, a backup camera, roof rails, and a dockable entertainment system with a Game Boy Advance.
A 273-hp, 3.7-liter V6 engine powers all CX-9 trims. The engine links to a six-speed Sport A/T automatic transmission, designed to provide optimal acceleration and passing performance as well as fuel efficiency. As in previous years, all three CX-9 trims are available with either front-wheel drive or with Mazda's Active Torque Split all-wheel-drive system.

It is an amazing SUV with real sport gene. It sticks on to the road. I would call it as a japenese cousin of Audi Q7. It rides from 0 to 100kms in less than 8secs but is electronically limited to 160kms. The interior is pure luxury. Even though looks small fits 7 people easily. True value for money.

the engine is not the best, but not the worst either, reasonable acceleration, good brakes and good handling it has never needed any repairs and i think its gorgeous on both in inside and the outside. the gas mileage is a biiit high but its affordable. And i personally think this car is a lot of fun to drive, a lot of accessories and somehow feels good driving it

- It's reasonably quick, 0-60 in about 7 or 8 seconds. - It drinks the fuel a bit as it's really heavy, so I get through about 70 litres for 480 km (300 miles.) This is poor for a 3.7 V6. - Very, very quiet. Even when it's being thrashed to within an inch of it's life, the engine stays quiet. - The 3rd row seats are useless unless you have small children or friends who are 3ft tall! - The BEST thing about this car is that it handles SO WELL. It feels like driving a saloon car, but it's over 5 metres long and weighs 2 tons! - The 6-speed auto transmission is as smooth as any I've seen. - This is seriously comfortable and I'd happily drive it all day long without feeling it. - The reclining and sliding action of the 2nd row seats is really useful for passengers on a long road trip. - Mazda for some reason insert cream coloured floor mats throughout this car when it has cream leather seats. My best advice is remove them before you leave the showroom! Replace them with black ones or they'll be ruined within a week. - Even after a few months, I still can't decide about the looks of this car. the back end looks great, but the front resembles a Mazda6 on stilts. Very odd, but kinda nice too. - The only other thing to mention for buyers in the GCC is the 120kph warning signal - It's VERY VERY loud. Ask the dealer to muffle it or you'll be sorry. - iPod unit is great, as is the speaker system.
