Overview

Engine and transmission improvements headlined the Concorde's revisions for 1997. This was also the final model year of the sedan's first generation. The Concorde would be totally restyled for 1998. Chrysler also added a better sound system and moved the washer nozzles to the hood. The base 3.3 liter V-6 was dropped on the LX model, in favor of a larger 3.5 liter version. This new 212 horsepower engine was still paired with a four speed automatic, but the transmission had also been refined. The Concorde's 0-60 time remained around eight and a half seconds., but the larger engine pulled fuel economy down from 20/28 to 18/26 mpg. Owners reported mixed driving averages around 25 mpg. Some of these older first generation Concordes are closing in on 200,000 miles. Between 100 and 200k, many drivers warn that troubles struts, timing belts, water pumps, and the radiator may occur. While these are common higher mileage issues, others also reported chronic A/C problems in early ownership.

Not bad for price to others like it but it is not a leader in its class and you can tell it right away, great power bad gas mileage at a mere 19MPG, though better than most of it's American competitors, it feels like a compromise to what you can get in the Japanese car market for the same year. It's not bad but to get the real value you have to really take care of it meaning you have to spend money on it to keep it on the road and it is not cheap for some of the things you will have to do. Afterwards it's not bad but the main advantage is you can purchase 2-3 of these cars for the price of one japanese car of same class and you can save big from buying this compared to it's American rivals.

Great car and provided enough room for everything I needed to carry. The gas mileage was great for the most part and the car is very sound. The V6 offers a lot of power and was very fun to drive.
