Used 1995 Volkswagen Jetta for Sale near Chicago, IL
Volkswagen expanded the Jetta lineup for 1995 with the addition of two new trim packages, the Jetta City and the Jetta Celebration. Both came with a 115-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that was also dropped into the base Jetta, the Jetta GL, and the Jetta GLS trim packages. And both the City and the Celebration were stripped-down models with lowered sticker prices and a limited set of standard features.
Standard features for the Jetta GL included power steering, power brakes, power door locks, air conditioning, a rear window defroster, dual airbags, an anti-theft alarm system, and an AM/FM/cassette audio system. The Jetta GLS added power windows and a sunroof. A GLX package was also available. It came with a 172-horsepower V6 engine and such features as anti-lock brakes.
The Jetta's handling, roominess, and power were cited as positive points by drivers, but some also noted that their cars needed frequent repairs, which could be expensive.
4.3 Overall rating
(33 reviews)Bought it new and drove it for 160K miles. It was still going strong. The VR6 engine was great. Plenty of power/torque for a little car. Solid construction.
Acceleration and top speed are quite impressive for a 2.0L, even the bottom end is really torquy. Only normal wear repairs have been needed in her 121,000 miles. Styling is awesome just the trim falls off because it was double sided tape from the factory. She gets 25-30 mpg but parts are kinda expensive due to being German. By far most fun car i have ever owned.
These cars are reliable, fast, fun, economical, and cute. They can be left stock for an economical sedan for a family or they can be added onto as a fun sporty car for a young driver. The only down side to these cars is that there are a lot of them out there so it makes them less valuable. Cost of ownership is the cheapest I've had and it is the funnest car to drive that I have owned.
Loved this car till its death. By far the best Vw ever owed. Great handling at fast speeds acceleration was far for having almost 300,000 miles on it. Would recomend for someone looking to get in to cars easy to mod
Really nothing that I disliked other than the fact that the maintenance costs started to get out of control once the car broke 130,000 miles. I guess that's to be expected though when cars get that old. Other than that, I adored that car, and was heartbroken when I got rid of it.
