The 1995 Toyota Tercel was totally redesigned for the model year. The change in appearance was subtle, but the new Tercel was sportier and more modern than before. The 1995 Tercel also got some new safety features, including standard dual airbags, a conventional seat belt for the front passenger seat, and side beams. The engine was all new and more powerful, and a four-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission was available in the DX models.
The 1995 Toyota Tercel came in three trim levels. The coupe was offered as a base or DX model, and the sedan was available only as a DX. All shared the same 1.5-liter, 93 horsepower four cylinder engine. Not surprisingly, the 1995 Toyota Tercel got excellent gas mileage, at about 30 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.
Drivers love the 1995 Toyota Tercel because it is affordable, reliable, and gets excellent fuel economy. Owners admit that their cars are not pretty or luxurious, but Tercel owners are interested in value more than looks. Drivers of the ’95 Tercel complain that the trunk and back seat are much too small, the car can be noisy, and that the seats can get uncomfortable during a long drive.

(18 reviews)Performance - Acceleration- 0-60 in 9.8 seconds Max speed- who knows, probably 110 m.p.h. Braking- 60-0 in 5.3 seconds (yes i timed it) Handling- lets just say it won't turn on wet pavement, but otherwise its pretty good about turning at faster speeds Build Quality - Repairs- needed a little break work, brakes just gave out one day. other than that really nice. Appearance - Exterior- looked pretty nice, the green was surprisingly a nice color for the car, the stock rims, or rather hubcaps, looked horrible. Interior - The interior is pretty nice other than the plastic seats that liked to rip. Cost of Ownership - Gas mileage - anywhere from 10 mpg - 45, i think it was 55 highway, depending on how i felt like driving that day. Maintenance - little to none, other than brake problems. Fun factor - fun to drive? ABSOLUTELY, this car was the greatest, i really wish that tree hadn't killed it. Well all of my friends like to go fast, so i wouldn't recommend this little puddle jumper to them, but to everyone else i would.
The Toyota Tercel is a reminder of how I met my significant other. When I assumed title from her, I knew my swingin single days were over. And once I had to add a babyseat in it, I went from "lady killer" to "just kill me". It takes a certain person to own a Toyota Tercel. She was educated, practical, non-materialistic. On the other hand, I had just lost my Dodge Shadow convertible. I was trouble. I was lost. I was burning holes in my pockets. The Tercel was such a simple formula. It was stable, reliable, and unpretentious. All it cared about was getting you there and back. The Tercel slowed my world to an easier pace, far from the road of crash n burn. Despite it being a small car, Tercel waited for me to grow into it. I used to race other random guys my age at the light like James Dean in the Rebel Without a Cause. Tercel took me in a different direction. The tires had me feeling every road noise, pothole, bump in the road of life. I used to have kickin sound systems with CD. Tercel only had radio and tape player. I used to let the top down and let my slicked back hair blow in the wind and race the stars in the sky. Tercel only mussed my hair up when window was down. In my previous cars, I never sat in the backseat. Tercel made room for babyseat. And where I used to flick people off for driving on my roads, I now took it like a man from young punks. Tercel taught me a lesson. And when it was on its last legs after 12 years, I was glad to get rid of it. I donated it to a charity that reconditioned it for disabled people.
It doesn't have enough power, however, it gets amazing gas milage, and runs like a champ. I swear toyotas are pretty much bulletproof, and with the prices of gas going higher and higher, its a great car to have and there are plenty of bolt on parts that can be added to increase performance.
I do like my tercel alot. I bought it in April with 203k on it. Since then, i had to replace the deck, speakers, tires, brake master cylinder, brake pads, calipers, fluid, and rotors. It is probably because i bought it from a stranger with high mileage. But other than that, i really like the shape and size of the Tercel, and i only paid $975 for mine.
Fun to drive, and jump. You miss it once you loose it.
