Overview

The 1992 Cressida remained unchanged for the model year. This would be the last year Toyota would produce the Cressida; due to the success of their Lexus line, Toyota opted to discontinue the mid-sized sedan. In 1995, however, the Toyota Avalon, another large, luxurious sedan was introduced. The Cressida was Toyota’s last rear-wheel drive sedan sold in the US.
The 1992 Toyota Cressida only came in one trim level. The engine was a 3.0-liter, 190 horsepower V6, and the Cressida was only available with a four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy was about 19/24 mpg.
Drivers still love the 1992 Cressida even today, and many lament the fact that they are no longer made. Drivers find the rear-wheel drive more fun to drive than front-wheel drive, and they like the quiet but powerful engine and luxurious features. Some drivers wish the car came as a five-speed, and others don’t like the fact that it needs premium gas.

Purchased used in 1997 with 60,000 miles. An excellent, underappreciated vehicle. Powerful detuned Supra inline-6 gave surprisingly ripping performance when opened up. Otherwise, a silent glider in stop-and-go traffic. Deluxe interior with great seats. Ideal size, inside and out. Surprisingly decent handling. On the downside, repairs were kind of expensive, and gas mileage was lousy, but it was the late 90s so no one cared. This car was mourned deeply when it was taken out by former roommate and totaled. Irresponsible d-bag.
