About 1987 Honda Accord
3.8 Overall rating(11 reviews)
Nov 1, 2006
325,000 plus miles, and drive it about 50 miles every day. Never have a problem taking it on road trips either. I love this car. I paid $150 for it almost 3 years ago, and it just keeps getting better!
Jul 3, 2007
My car is great on gas. Not much frills, but usually realiable. Works very well for my family unless it is hot outside.
Apr 18, 2007
Love my 87 Accord LX, except two design challenges. (1) It has a complex web of vacuum hoses that took me two days to replace one by one. (2) I've heard one reliable mechanic and an Internet source both stating that if you begin having carbeurator troubles on this model, there's almost no fixing it (time to move on).
Update in 2012: Still driving this oldie at almost 250,000 miles with no major issues other than typical repairs as the miles pile up. The AC died on this vehicle before I bought it, and my Honda mechanic says the compressor on this vehicle was a piece of junk not worth replacing.
Apr 9, 2007
I have seen plenty of reviews on cars that are great and i get a little tirersome of the pages people write so i'll keep it short. I have a 1987 accord one of the plainest cars they made with only a/c and cruise. I have to say though it runs great and only has minor problems but that only started when it hit the 200,000 mile mark. It now has 215,857 and runs fine. So parents looking to get there kids a first car this is a great one or just as a low salary car.

This was my sisters car. I used it alot eventhough it was her car. I drove it to school and I had it when I was in the Navy until she died on me. Acceleration has ok. Handling was ok. It was a very fun car to drive. I love Hondas

About 1987 Honda Accord

325,000 plus miles, and drive it about 50 miles every day. Never have a problem taking it on road trips either. I love this car. I paid $150 for it almost 3 years ago, and it just keeps getting better!

Overview
"I could not kill this piece of junk," said one long time 1987 Honda Accord owner. And that perhaps best sums up owner feelings of the '87 Accord — it's reliable, dependable, requires minimal maintenance, and is great on gas even as an aged wreck or "beater to beat all beaters."
There were no changes made to either the lineup of Accord trims or in their mechanics this year. There probably wasn't any need for change, since the Accords were even still gaining in popularity and there were times when demand exceeded supply.
Many of those who bought the '87 Honda Accord when it was new are still driving it and have odometer readings from 162,000 to more than 300,000. It's no wonder then that many say it's a car that just can't die.
