1982 - power. 1983 - the convertible. 1984 - the world??? The early eighties were truly the start of the Mustang's rise back out of the muck and into the forefront of the muscle car community. The 1983 Ford Mustang was available as a convertible, a trim which had been absent from the line-up for much too long. The engines were also once again improved, with the 3.3-liter upped to a 3.8-liter V6. Perhaps the biggest change was the switch from a two-barrel carburetor to a new four-barrel version, boosting horsepower to 175. Like the old ads used to say, "The Boss is back."
