Used Honda Accord for Sale near Sebring, FL
The 1979 Honda Accord remains little changed from earlier Accord models. The wheelbase is still slightly better than 93 inches, the engine is still a 4 cylinder, 1.6 liter 12 valve SOHC.
A new trim became available this year, appealing to more families: the four-door sedan that increased overall length and competed with the Corono by Toyota.
Fuel efficiency is still the Accord's biggest draw — along with its passenger room. That said though, the Civic was still outselling the Accord and people were having more fun with their Civics as well.

(7 reviews)hi i owed a 1979 accord hatchback for about 5 years found it a joy to drive nippy great handling round bends, and ultra reliable, good room with the seats down at the back, probable still my favorite all time car for reliability comfort and handling, even against some german cars i have owed, the ex were more refined for there day with electric roof window and ariel, big chucky chrome buttons, no compromising in build qulity, its a shame about the rust as im sure it would have still be running today, would gladly trade my audi a4 tdi in for another one no computer ecu issues that can be expensive just good straight car that did not show compromise when first, built, a truely great car like no other that i,ve owed in over 20 years driving
Great car, fun to use and fired up after three years stored.
wonderfull car perfoms good as you maintain it gives you powerfull it's fuel is very economy espicially in travilling it likes to go open roads acceleration is perfect i can handle it very good having some options didn't appear in other brands before ten years later
Interior was full of little flip lid stash pockets and other little gizmos. My car was silver and had black interior. Cloth and PVC seats that were really comfortable.1600cc engine which was big enough in the early 90's as it was my first car. I would have driven it for more years than 2 if some prat kept his speed down while driving on an iced up lane..Fancy writing off a parked car!! Cheers who ever you are.
1st car in high school, 1990. I had an 86 Escort for 1 month with a manual...then, I received this Honda from my Dad. It was way superior to the 86 Escort. Impressive for a 79. Loved the interior. Fat sporty 4 spoke steering wheel. Nifty storage compartments including a handy coin box. Nice big gauges. Everything was within easy reach. Good space for 4. Purred like a kitten, handled well, nice acceleration (even though it was a Honda-matic). It went through 2 transmissions, 2 master cylinders, over heated twice... 2 rebuilds... and only had like 90k. So I would say there was "bugs" in the early models. Still, the packaging of this time for Honda was perfect. I am not a fan of the weighty overly complicated cars they make now. Give me a nice interior, good quality design, and manual windows.
