The 1962 Ford Thunderbird was a master of deception. Remaining primarily the same as the 1961 model, Ford offered in its new Sports Roadster what had formerly been an aftermarket item: a tonneau cover for the rear seats. This fancy piece of fiberglass transformed the four-seater into the two-seater that many diehards missed so much. It even accommodated a convertible top.
The Landau joined the Roadster in its 1962 entry, featuring a vinyl roof. Ford offered an M-Code engine, a 390-ci V8 rated at 340 horsepower. Only 145 of these T-birds were made, including 120 Roadsters.
For 1962, 1,427 of the Roadsters were sold, 10,516 convertibles, and 62,335 hardtops. The base engine was a 390-ci V8 rated at 300 horsepower, with the M-Code the only available option.

(5 reviews)Completely restored. Engine completely rebuilt to original besides a .40 over bore. Moves pretty good. Kelsey-hayes wire wheels. All trim and bumpers have been re-chromed. The car is scary to drive because of all the damn work we put in it, but definitely is our pride and joy.
This car has been very dependable while traveling to shows etc. I'm still able to work on it with not having all the computer stuff on it. This vehicle will not be sold or traded as it will remain in the family for at least two more generations. I have driven it about 20,000 miles in 13 years, these cars must be driven to maintain their value.
very low profile, lotts of room, horsepower is there, ac works great, love the power windows,love the body style, and its a ford, and most of all i love the way it turns heads when ya drive it on the highway!
So far I love it!
I've had a late 62 model for about 10 years and love it.
