Aside from the excitement caused by these labeled Principality trims, 1963 was just an okay year for the Thunderbird as only 63,313 were sold, perhaps in preparation for the restyling to come in 1964. Of these, 5,913 were convertibles and 455 were Sports Roadsters. Only 55 M-codes were sold with their 340 horsepower engines. The base engine remained a 390-ci V8 rated at 300 horsepower, with the M-code as the only option.
