EV Brands Offering Tesla Owners Incentives To Trade In

by Mark Takahashi

It's undeniable that Tesla has made a lasting impact on the automotive industry. Products such as the Tesla Model 3, the Model Y, the Model S, the Model X, and the Cybertruck have dramatically accelerated the adoption of EVs worldwide, fueling the company's explosive growth over the last decade.

Tesla has recently faced a global downturn for a number of reasons, and to make matters worse, its vehicle lineup has been somewhat stagnant, with only refreshes—rather than complete redesigns—of its bestselling Tesla Model Y and Model 3 working hard to keep the brand’s lineup current. This has allowed more traditional automakers to catch up, and there are now plenty of alternatives offering competitive range, performance, and pricing.

Rival automakers smell blood in the water and are responding with aggressive incentives aimed at luring Tesla owners out of their existing EVs and into a competing model.

Brands and dealerships are also looking to offload as many EVs as possible before the $7,500 federal tax credit is cancelled after September 30.

With this in mind, we rounded up some of the top deals shoppers can snag right now from Tesla competitors, aimed squarely at existing Tesla drivers. Be sure to note that individual dealerships may offer additional incentives on top of those listed below, and not all these offers may be available in your area.

Expired Incentives

Some automakers have offered Tesla conquest incentives that have recently expired. Even though these offers may no longer be available from the manufacturer itself, some dealerships may consider their own deals, so it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask.

  • BMW BEV Conquest Credit of $1,000 expired July 31, 2025

  • Cadillac Optiq: $2,000 off for eligible brands expired August 8, 2025

  • Chevy was offering $1,250 towards a Blazer EV or Equinox EV purchase or lease expired August 4, 2025

  • Dodge Charger: $2,000 in West Coast regions expired in spring/summer 2025

  • Kia Competitive Bonus Program: $1,000 off the price of an EV9 expired August 4, 2025

  • Polestar 3: $5,000 lease incentive expired April 30, 2025

There are plenty of ways in which carmakers are encouraging EV shoppers to lease or purchase ahead of the proposed September 30 end-date for the $7,500 federal tax credit. Regional dealer networks and individual dealerships have also offered incentives, and it's worth the extra time and research to see if they apply where you live, or if they'd be willing to consider a similar deal.
