The Ram 1500 SRT TRX is back for the 2027 model year, bringing 777 horsepower (an increase of 75 hp over the previous TRX) and 680 pound-feet of torque to the off-road truck wars. The return of the biggest and baddest Ram the world has ever seen means the high-performance Ford F-150 Raptor R pickup has a new but eerily familiar and freshly upgraded foe to contend with.

What’s New for the 2027 Ram 1500
Following the return of the Hemi V8 engine in 2026, it comes as little surprise that Ram pulled out all the stops with the reintroduction of the TRX edition for 2027. The reborn TRX boasts a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, which Ram says will make it “the fastest and most powerful” production truck of its kind in the world. And, with more than a foot of suspension travel front and rear, the SRT TRX is capable of attaining ludicrous speeds well off the beaten path.
Design
High-performance off-road trucks like the 2027 Ram TRX and its turbocharged six-cylinder sibling, the 540-hp RHO, are dominated by the lifted suspension setups they need to charge across the dirt at speed. With 11.8 inches of ground clearance, the TRX and RHO fit the bill. Flared fenders cover 18-inch wheels wearing chunky 35-inch off-road tires, and Satin Black exterior trim delivers a sinister look. The 2027 Ram SRT TRX’s functional hood scoop feeds air into the V8’s massive supercharger.
A new Ram TRX Bloodshot Night Edition also debuts for 2027 in a hand-painted Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat hue with a Flame Red center stripe and unique bodyside graphics.
Powertrain
In addition to the TRX’s supercharged V8, the 2027 Ram 1500 lineup will include a base V6 engine along with an optional Hemi V8 and two versions of the company’s turbocharged Hurricane inline-six. While the previous version of the Ram TRX was no slouch, with 702 ponies, the new version’s 777 hp allows it to run from zero to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The TRX features full-time active four-wheel drive (4WD) and offers 4WD Auto, 4WD High (locked) and 4WD Low (locked) modes.

Interior
While Ram hasn’t yet unveiled every version of the 2027 1500 pickup, we know the TRX edition will benefit from an interior swathed in leather, suede, and carbon fiber. The TRX’s perforated black leather seats feature red bolsters and stitching, and the Ruby Red seat belts are a nice touch. Like the luxurious Ram Tungsten, the TRX will get a leather-wrapped airbag cover with red stitching, a full suede headliner, and suede-wrapped sun visors.
The TRX Bloodshot Night Edition gains a glass-encased TRX center console badge and red accents woven through its carbon fiber trim.
Technology
Ram offers multiple touchscreen infotainment screens in various versions of its 1500 pickup truck, all running the latest Uconnect 5 software in addition to offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The reborn TRX gets the largest 14.5-inch version, and its vertical orientation means it takes up the entirety of the dash, top to bottom, ahead of the center console.
The 2027 Ram TRX features a Drive Mode selector with Auto, Tow, Mud/Sand, Rock, Snow, Sport, Baja, Custom and Valet mode. There is also a dedicated Launch Control system that ensures the quickest getaways on the road or in the dirt.
Safety
The 2027 Ram TRX and RHO are, at the time of this writing, the only off-road performance trucks in the 1500 class slated to offer hands-free driving assist, and the technology comes standard in the TRX model. Other driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist will be available, but Ram has not yet announced which features will be standard on which versions of the 1500 lineup.

Pricing and Release Date
It’s not yet clear what most versions of the 2027 Ram 1500 will cost, but we do know the new TRX will start at $102,590 (including a $2,595 destination charge). While that’s a lot of money, it actually undercuts the Ford F-150 Raptor R’s $113,525 MSRP by a sizable sum. As of this writing, we don’t have an exact launch date for the 2027 Ram lineup, but the company has said the 1500 SRT TRX will hit dealerships in the second half of the 2026 calendar year.
