The Toyota RAV4 was recently named the best-selling new vehicle thanks to its generous standard features, spacious interior, and fuel-efficient powertrains. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options are offered, but the base gas model is available in four trims with most of the compelling options baked in.

What’s New for the 2025 Toyota RAV4
Toyota didn’t make many changes to the RAV4 for the 2025 model year, other than to discontinue the TRD Off-Road and Adventure trims. The SUV received no updates in 2024, but Toyota installed a new infotainment system and made a digital gauge cluster available in 2023.
Design
The RAV4’s styling has become boxier and more aggressive over the years, though the most rugged styling is reserved for hybrid models. Toyota offers a range of wheel choices, depending on the trim, but all models sport a good amount of black plastic bodywork.
Powertrain
All 2025 RAV4 models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). While it’s far from the most exciting powertrain configuration in the segment, the RAV4 returns up to 34 mpg on the highway in its most efficient format, more than making up for any performance shortcomings. The Toyota also offers a decent ride quality and handling, though it can feel unsettled on the roughest roads.

Interior
The five-seat RAV4 comes standard with cloth upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Available features include synthetic leather, heated and ventilated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and more. There is a good amount of space for front-seat passengers, and adults can ride comfortably in the back. That said, the RAV4 could use more headroom, and the available sunroof cuts into the space further. The SUV also offers a decent amount of cargo space, with 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 69.8 cubic feet with the back seat folded down.
Technology
Toyota equips an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster as standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech includes navigation, SiriusXM radio, six speakers, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and multiple USB ports. Available tech features include a JBL stereo, ambient interior lighting, a power moonroof, wireless phone charging, a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and more USB ports.
Safety
The new RAV4 hasn’t earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but it comes with a generous number of standard driver-assistance features. They include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-trace assist, LED headlights, automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warnings. Available features include automatic wipers, a 360-degree camera system, parking assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and hill-descent control.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2025 RAV4 LE starts at $30,245, which includes a $1,395 destination fee. The range-topping Limited trim costs $38,550 after destination but before options.
