What’s New for the 2025 Subaru Solterra

For 2025, the Solterra gets a new Touring Onyx Black Edition trim. This trim gets 20-inch wheels and unique black accents inside and out. The Premium, Limited, and Touring trims are still available. All Solterras get Subaru’s iconic Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) System thanks to two electric motors, one for each axle. Carrying over from 2024 is an improved battery conditioning system with improved cold-weather performance.

Design

The Solterra carries over from 2024 with futuristic yet familiar styling thanks to classic Subaru body cladding for off-road or off-pavement escapades. The new Touring Onyx Black Edition trim gets 20-inch gloss black wheels and unique black accents inside and out, including blacked out badging. This model also gets a unique two-tone paint job with Galactic Black A-pillars, roof, and roof spoiler.

Powertrain

All 2025 Solterras come standard with a dual-motor electric powertrain and the automaker's AWD system, delivering legendary all-weather and all-terrain capability. The high-capacity battery delivers up to 227 miles of EPA-estimated range. EV road-trippers will be glad to know that the Solterra can charge from 10% to 85% in as little as 35 minutes at the right DC Fast Charger.

Interior

The Solterra's funky square steering wheel paired with a high digital dash does take some getting used to, but it allows for a great deal of adjustability. Heated front seats and steering wheel are standard on all 2025 Solterras, and the Limited, Touring, and Touring Onyx edition trims are equipped with standard heated rear seats as well. The Touring and Touring Onyx Edition models also get a panoramic glass moonroof as standard.

Technology

All Solterra models get a high-resolution 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard Apple Carplay and Android Auto. 2025 models are equipped with five USB charge ports: one USB-A and two USB-C for front-seat occupants, and two USB-C for rear-seat passengers. Touring and Touring Onyx Black Edition Solterras also get a wireless phone charger.

Safety

Every Solterra is built with cutting-edge safety features as standard equipment, including the EyeSight suite of driver-assistance features such as lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control. The Solterra earned a 2025 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), that organization's top honor. It also received the highest five-star overall score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Pricing and Release Date

Prices for the 2025 Subaru Solterra start at $38,495 before destination fees or additional tax incentives are factored in. The new Touring Onyx Black Edition starts at $45,495 before destination. As of this writing, the 2025 Solterra no longer qualifies for the Federal EV Tax Credit. 2025 models are available to order now, with deliveries start soon.
