Though it started as a gas-only SUV, the Lexus RX catalog has grown to include hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, which are available in a range of configurations and trims. Regardless of configuration, an RX Hybrid combines fantastic fuel economy and a high-end, Lexus-quality ride.

What’s New for the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid
The 2025 RX Hybrid gained a new F Sport Design package with dark trim pieces and sporty styling elements. There’s also a Black Line package available as a limited-edition option. The plug-in hybrid model was all new for 2024, so changes in 2025 are minimal.
Design
The RX Hybrid has the controversial oversized Lexus spindle grille, which now extends from the bottom of the hood line all the way to the lower bumper. It also features sharp “check mark” LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and Lexus has given the SUV a surprisingly aggressive and sporty look in recent times. A blacked-out C-pillar also gives the roof a unique floating look.
Powertrain
The hybrid RX is available with two powertrain options. Entry-level models have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors making a combined 246 horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque.
A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, working with the same hybrid system, bumps output to 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed automatic transmission rather than the planetary gear set used in the base hybrid.
The all-wheel drive (AWD) RX plug-in hybrid has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine like the base hybrid, but it’s rated at 304 hp and has a bigger battery pack that allows for up to 35 miles of electric range.

Interior
The RX Hybrid offers seating for five across two rows. Synthetic leather upholstery comes standard, along with heated front seats. More expensive configurations add genuine or semi-aniline leather, ventilated front seats, and heated and ventilated second-row seats. A heated steering wheel is also available, and cargo space checks in at 29.6 cubic feet behind the second-row seats.
Technology
A 9.8-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 12-speaker audio system, six USB ports, HD radio, and more.
Available tech includes a 21-speaker audio system, a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and a digital key system. Lexus’s improved infotainment interface is easier to use than in prior models, and it’s less distracting while driving. Menus load faster and the interface is more responsive than the systems used in the RX's predecessors.
Safety
Crash-test results for the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid were not available at the time of publication, but the 2024 model earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Standard safety tech includes forward collision warning, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, safe-exit assist, lane-trace assist, and intersection assist. Available tech includes front cross-traffic alert, parking assistance, a surround-view camera system, and more.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, Lexus hasn’t released pricing for the new RX Hybrid, but it will likely see a small increase over the $52,100 starting price seen in 2024 (the plug-in hybrid started at $70,580).
