What’s New for the 2025 Kia Niro
The Kia Niro has been on the market since 2017, but the second-generation model arrived for the 2023 model year. In 2024, an upgraded cargo floor was added to the EX trim. For the 2025 model year, the changes are minimal. The biggest update is the inclusion of seat-belt pre-tensioners on all trim levels.
Design
The Niro has a functional yet fashion-forward design. It has a slightly upright SUV crossover profile, capped off by tech-inspired headlights and upright blade-like taillights. Trims for the Niro hybrid are LX, EX, EX Touring, SX, and SX Touring. The LX and other trims have 16-inch alloy wheels. The EX Touring and SX Touring have 18-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
The Niro’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine working with an electric motor to put out a combined 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, giving is a slightly more engaging driving experience than your average hybrid. Models with 16-inch wheels return fuel economy of 53 mpg city, 54 highway, 53 combined. Models with 18-inch wheels return 53 mpg city, 45 highway, 49 combined.
Interior
With up to 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, the Niro has functional space for a small hybrid crossover. With the rear seats in use, the Niro provides 22.8 cubic feet of rear cargo space. The LX trim comes with remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. Upgraded trims provide features such as power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and synthetic leather upholstery.
Technology
The standard infotainment system in the 2025 Niro is an 8-inch touchscreen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes standard with five USB ports. All trims but the base LX come with the upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen. These trims also include wireless device charging, satellite radio, and navigation. The SX trim also features a Harmon Kardon premium stereo system.
Safety
Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, driver-attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Upgraded safety tech includes front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, cyclist detection, and stop-and-go adaptive cruise control.

At the time of this writing, the 2025 Kia Niro has a base MSRP of $26,990 for the LX trim with its standard hybrid powertrain. The EX starts at $29,790, and the EX Touring starts at $32,090.
