Jeep may seem an unlikely candidate for an electrified vehicle release, but it did just that in 2023 with the Wrangler 4xe. The plug-in hybrid SUV offers a reasonable all-electric range but doesn’t give up on the stout off-road capabilities that have made Jeep a legendary brand over the years.

What’s New for the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe
Jeep heavily updated the entire Wrangler lineup in 2024, giving it refreshed styling, a much nicer interior, a larger infotainment display, and more tech features. Changes in 2025 are less dramatic, but Jeep made power windows and door locks standard for all Wrangler trims, and a couple of new paint colors join the lineup.
Design
The Jeep Wrangler hasn’t changed much since its introduction decades ago, though the automaker has refined the formula over the years. While it still features its signature round headlights and upright grille, it’s available with a range of graphics, top choices, and colors that help give it a more modern look.
Powertrain
Jeep offers a range of powertrain options for the Wrangler, but the 4xe comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. The system makes a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, which reaches all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Electric motors provide a solid amount of torque off the line, making the 4xe feel quick and lively. The combination also gives the Wrangler better torque for tackling tough terrain.

Interior
The Wrangler has never had the nicest interior, which fits its attitude. That said, Jeep improved the SUV’s cabin in 2024, making it much more comfortable and convenient. The 4xe comes only with four doors, giving it five seats across two rows. Cloth upholstery is standard, but Jeep offers a handful of upgrades, including premium cloth, leather, and Nappa leather. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also available, but the big story with the Wrangler is its removable top and doors. Jeep offers a few different top types, including soft-folding, hard, and power-sliding.
Technology
Jeep equips a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech includes Amazon Alexa functionality, a seven-inch digital gauge cluster, USV ports, and an auxiliary jack. The Wrangler uses Stellantis’ excellent Uconnect infotainment system, giving it a generous number of standard features and an easy-to-use interface.
Safety
The Wrangler earned middling safety scores in testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but Jeep does equip a few driver-assistance features as standard. The list includes forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and rear-seat alerts. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and automatic high beams are available.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the base Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sport S starts at $52,690, which includes a $1,995 destination charge. The midrange Rubicon trim costs $63,390, and the top Rubicon X starts at $72,340.
