What’s New for the 2025 Cadillac XT6

With production winding down for the 2025 Cadillac XT6, it should come as no surprise that this is essentially a carry-over model. The only thing that is new: The Platinum Package available on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims will now include Super Cruise and Night Vision.

Design

The 2025 Cadillac XT6 has a slightly updated design over the smaller XT4 and XT5 SUVs, with horizontal headlights and a vertical daytime running like that mimic the larger Escalade. It also has the signature Cadillac vertical taillights in addition to strong horizontal lines. The base Luxury trim comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels with a bright finish, and the Premium Luxury and Sport trims level up to 20-inch wheels. The Sport trim adds Brembo performance front brakes and red front rear calipers. There aren’t appearance packages per se, but there are “accent” packages that come with bronze, red, and blue wheel caps and body decals. You can also opt for Cadillac crest puddle lamps, illuminating door handles, and premium headlights to make your design more unique.

Powertrain

Though there is just a three-trim lineup for the 2025 Cadillac XT6, it maintains two powertrain options. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo that delivers 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This is the only option in the base Luxury trimThe 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque is the standard engine on both the Premium Luxury and Sport trims. All trims are available with all-wheel drive, though only the Luxury and Premium Luxury have a front-wheel-drive option. Max towing for the base engine is 1,000 pounds, but if you upgrade to the V6, you can tow up to 4,000 pounds. The base FWD model with the turbo will get the best EPA-estimated city/highway combined fuel economy at 21/27/23 mpg. The AWD model with the same engine will get 21/26/23 mpg. Upgrading to the V6 sees a small drop with 19/26/21 mpg and 18/25/20 mpg for the FWD and AWD models, respectively.

Interior

The interior of the 2025 Cadillac XT6 is luxurious without being too tech-forward. It comes standard with seven-passenger seating but has optional six-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs. It has standard leatherette seats with heated front seats and available semi-aniline leather seating surfaces. It provides up to 78.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, but all three rows up, you have 12.6 cubic feet available. Things like ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, floor liners, cargo area organizers, and alternate floor coverings are available. An “Ultra View” power sunroof is standard.

Technology

Unlike other Cadillacs, the XT6 maintains a more traditional infotainment setup with a gauge cluster that is separate from the 8-inch infotainment screen. Additionally, instead of adopting Google built-in, this three-row SUV still uses the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) for infotainment, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available tech features include a rear camera mirror, digital cluster, head-up display, hitch guidance, and 360-degree camera. Another big tech option available on Premium Luxury and Sport: Super Cruise, Cadillac’s level 2, hands-free highway driving system.

Safety

The 2025 Cadillac XT6 is not one of those luxury vehicles that makes all safety tech standard. Included on the base Luxury trim, you’ll get automatic emergency braking, forward-collision alert, front pedestrian braking, front and rear park assist, automatic high beams, lane-keep assist, a rear-seat reminder, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Then, there are a whole host of optional safety features that aren’t available on the base trim but are available as package options on the upper two trims. These include adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, 360-degree camera, and automatic park assist with braking. The XT6 gets an overall 5-Star Rating from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, and it gets Good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in its original tests. However, it gets Poor ratings in the updated moderate front overlap and side crash tests. Plus, IIHS rates the headlights as Acceptable, and the front crash prevention system is just Marginal.
