What’s New for the 2024 Lexus LX
Lexus fully redesigned the LX for the 2022 model year and made further improvements for 2023, but the 2024 model doesn’t receive any substantive changes.
Design
The latest Lexus LX is boxier and more muscular than previous iterations, but it retains the brand’s most controversial styling feature: The spindle grille. Its angular wheel arches and slab sides give it a beefy curb presence, but the rear is refreshingly simple, with the Lexus badge being the most prominent detail. The automaker offers a range of configurations for the SUV. Some bring blacked-out exterior trim and wheels, while others sport more chrome and flashier styling.
Powertrain
All 2024 Lexus LX models come with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive (4WD). While that’s a smaller engine than previous generations’ V8, the turbos provide solid power, with output landing at 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. That torque output helps the hefty LX tackle surprisingly challenging off-road obstacles, and the 10-speed automatic delivers smooth, responsive shifts and performance.
Even with its old-school, body-on-frame construction, the LX offers a luxurious ride quality in most scenarios. It comes standard with adaptive dampers, and its limited-slip differential provides solid off-road traction. That said, rough roads are more apparent in the Lexus than in some of its rivals.
Interior
Lexus offers a few interior configurations for the LX, including a five-seat option and three-row setups with seating for up to seven people. Leather upholstery and heated front seats are standard, along with a heated steering wheel. Buyers can add upgraded leather, ventilated first- and second-row seats, a second-row table, rear footrests, and more.
Technology
All 2024 LX models come with a dual-screen infotainment system sporting a 12.3-inch main display and 7-inch secondary touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, Bluetooth, and more. Some configurations bring dual 11.4-inch rear displays, rear wireless charging, a Mark Levinson stereo, and more USB ports.
Safety
The LX has not seen complete crash-testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but it gets a generous number of advanced driver aids. The list includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Some configurations add a rearview mirror camera system and a head-up display.
Pricing and Release Date
As of this writing, pricing for the base 2024 Lexus LX 600 starts at $93,915. The Premium trim costs $101,865, and the F-Sport Handling costs $108,125. Moving up to the Luxury trim pushes the price to $109,865, while the super-plush Ultra Luxury trim starts at $134,490.
