2010 Acura MDX Trims and Specs

Pampered luxury is a hallmark of the Acura vehicle lineup, and the 2010 Acura MDX Base is no exception. This utilitarian-yet-plush seven-passenger midsize luxury crossover is lauded for its newly improved ride and traditional over-the-top appearance, comfort, and convenience features. Some of these styling and cabin amenities include 18-inch alloy wheels, a power sunroof, power liftgate, rear spoiler, trip computer, leather upholstery, heated, power-adjustable sport front seats, reclining second-row seats, bench-style, folding third-row seating, power everything, including reverse-tilting, heated outside mirrors and remote power door locks, steering-wheel-mounted cruise controls, audio controls, and paddle shifters, single-angle rearview camera, universal remote garage door opener, tri-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, leather and simulated wood dash, console, and door accents, memorized driver’s settings, 6-CD changer with 250 watts and seven total speakers, XM satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free communications technology. With so much standard equipment, options are an unnecessary excess for the Base MDX, but it does come over-loaded with standard safety features, such as four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, dual front side-mounted airbags, three-row head airbags, active front headrests, HID headlights, front fog/driving lights, turn-signal-integrated mirrors, daytime running lights, and a remote anti-theft alarm system.

Only a single engine and transmission combo is available for the full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) 2010 MDX lineup. The recently tweaked 3.7-liter variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 and new-for-2010 six-speed auto-manual transmission with hill holder and decent control put out a respectable 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity is some 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, and mileage is a marginally improved 16/21 mpg. Acura recommends burning premium unleaded gas.

The midlevel 2010 Acura MDX Tech Package takes the MDX Base and adds such technological goodies as extra Bluetooth capabilities, a multi-angle rearview camera system with simulated aerial view, voice-activated DVD navigation with a hard drive, GPS-based climate-control technology, and a head-bangin’ Panasonic/ELS audio system featuring 450 watts of surround-sound power and digital music storage. The MDX Tech Package with the Entertainment option additionally features rear-seat DVD entertainment with separate audio controls. All this, of course, is in addition to the Base MDX’s amenities, with xenon HID headlights added to the list of standard safety features.

A 3.7-liter variable-valve-timed V6 and brand-new six-speed auto-manual transmission are the standard drivetrain offered with the all-wheel-drive (AWD) 2010 MDX Tech Package; indeed this is the only powertrain available for the entire MDX lineup. Putting out 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, this upgraded engine will tow 5,000 pounds of trailer when properly equipped, and is estimated to get 16/21 mpg burning recommended premium unleaded.

While including all the standard gizmos and styling attributes of its lower-end siblings, the top-shelf 2010 Acura MDX Advance Package also throws in 19-inch alloys, an active ride control adjustable suspension system, upgraded perforated leather upholstery, adaptive cruise control, and such added safety features as a blind spot warning system and pre-collision brake mitigation. With the available Entertainment package, the MDX Advance Package also features heated second-row seats, rear-seat DVD entertainment, 450 watts of power, ten Panasonic/ESL speakers, and separate rear audio controls.

As with its Base and Tech Package siblings, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) 2010 MDX Advance Package comes equipped with a standard (and only) 3.7-liter V6 engine and new-for-2010 six-speed auto-manual transmission, netting 300 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Able to tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds, the 3.7 V6 is estimated to get 16/21 mpg using premium unleaded gasoline.
