Overall Very Impressed With The Build Quality, Reliability, And Performance. — I love the engine and transmission combo in this car, and it's also the best handling car I've ever owned. You do need to purchase a couple of specialized tools for maintenance, but otherwise it has been a good, reliable car.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great engine and transmission combo, the DSG is amazing and I'm not sure I'd ever have a true manual again.

Cons: Ride is firm and rough roads can be bothersome.

Hot Hatch!! It Feels Like A Hatchback Should. — I love most everything on this car except for one thing and that's the tail lights. I think Volkswagen could have done better with the tail lights. I just didn't like the crystal red tails that they put on them from factory. In 7 years of ownership I did not have any issues with car and never made any weird noises or anything out of the ordinary. Car gets great gas mileage, I averaged about 26 mpg combined. No maintenance costs here, except for cabin air filter that was changed by Volkswagen. Car is plenty powerful it has torque in pretty much every gear, and that feels good. I never felt more in control then with this hatchback, take turns fast, lots of grip in and out of corners and braking power is great as well. If you want to get the hatchback feeling back into your life then this car is for you.

Pros: Tons of power, love the look cheap to maintain. Car handles great with lots of support from the front seats. I have had my car for 7 years never had one issue with it.

Cons: There's not a lot of room to access the back seats. The problem is the front seats don't go to far up.

The Compact Rocket Ship! — This car has a great look to it. The front end looks amazing and agressive, it fits four people comfortably on the way to vegas. It feels like it has more than 200 hp by the way it pulls and handles.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great looking car, fast, sounds great, handling is amazing, has a lot of headroom for tall people and so do the rear seats.

Cons: not really meant for fitting an infant car seat, Many young kids want to race me in their crappy cars.

Sporty Ride - Great Value For The Money — This is a really sporty, great handling little car. Easy to park and drive - has great acceleration and cargo space. Wonderful for someone who has lots to haul or owns 4 dogs like me. I highly recommend this fun car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Car handles well, very fast, easy to cut in and out of traffic in.  Lots of cargo space - can load as much in this small car as I can in an F150.

Cons: Car uses Premium gasoline.  Gas mileage hovers at 27 mpg vs. the 33 advertised.

Great Daily Driver — The VW GTI is a solid hot hatchback. Much better than the Rabbit or the Golfs. Definitely make the upgrade to this if looking at those vehicles or other hatchbacks. Opt for the manual. Don't let it die! Learn and keep them alive!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good MPG. Fitting front seats. Good visibility.

Cons: Long throw shifter. Long engagement "VW" clutches.

Never Would Have Thought — Never in my life would I thought I would own a hatchback let alone a VW. I have always owned trucks and older american power cars. Everytime I drive the car I have a smile on my face. The inside is actually nice for a cheeper car instead of the plastic rattle traps American cars have. Plenty of power for when you want to have fun, but an avg of 28mpg.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun fast little car that can fit the whole famliy well.  Cargo space is rather large for such a small car.  Good fuel eco for the performance you get.

Cons: Maintance is a little high

This Is The Best Car I Have Ever Driven Or Owned. Drive One And You Will Never Go Back. — Performance is unmatched, price is good and saves gas. I would recommend this to a single person looking for a fun car with plenty of power and curb appeal. I wouldn't recommend it for a family. I would definately buy another if I get it with 4 doors.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This car is great fun. Drives like a dream, feels like its on rails. No lack of power. Good MPG, Gas saver! Sporty, yet classy. Easy to maintain, but requires quality parts and cannot be cheaply maintained.

Cons: Expensive to maintain properly. Not good for a family. Small back seats - adults can get in okay, but placing a baby seat in the back is tough work.

Great If You Don't Haul More Than 1 Adult Passenger. — Good car stock. Awesome car lowered, with more power and opened up exhaust! Better mileage than my Audi Quattro, but thirsty compared to my wife's Jetta TDI. No room in back seats, cozy up front, but a blast to drive! Just watch out for radar...

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Such a blast to drive ... you can't stop grinning!

Cons: Putting full-size adults in the back seat is officially torture.

I Love It Almost As Much As I Love My Wife — Awesome piece of engineering. Works just as well to dice the traffic light GP as to drive to the shop and back. Looks great, has a bit of the Mark 1 GTI styling with the bit of red in the front. For the rest it feels like a after market kitted car, only thing is it comes out the shop stock standard like that. Awesome

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The GTI spirit recaptured.

Cons: The cost of the friggin tyres

Gti'08 — Great sport car with excellent handling. It's fun driving the car up the mountains. Upgraded the car with 19" rims and a new sound system. The only negative side of this car is the manufacture - VW sucks (really bad service)

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Black Rims
