This car is an absolute perfect machine for anything from grocery getting, to a performance/track car. It offers a wopping 170-245 horsepower range, which is all you need and more for a car this size, but is also a very subtle car, with a very nice luxurious feeling. This car may not look like much, but with its 2.5 liter turbo EJ20 (also produced in early WRX/STI models) this thing gets to rippin. This is the perfect car for literally anything possible, not to mention that its AWD (all-wheel drive) so if you ever find yourself off-road, this car can, and will handle it. Overall, there is nothing this car cant handle, and possibilities are endless!

My Overall Impression Of This Impreza Is A Must Have — I’m a very big guy, “300 lbs plus” for such a small car, but I fit pretty good. It had great acceleration, fantastic agility in the snow and on icy roads. The stock radio would replaced soon after purchase, it’s pretty basic. I must say my overall impression of this Impreza is a must have.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very low cost of ownership.

Cons: The market here in Colorado is high for Subaru’s in general.

Sporty Smallish Sedan. — This is a sporty smallish sedan with good bad weather traction. It was still available with a manual transmission, not many around anymore. There is an MPG penalty for the AWD, but not as much as many other AWD vehicles.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Works great in snow.  Turbo give adequate zip.  Not a large sedan.

Cons: AWD limits MPG, 20.5 around town.  Not a large sedan.

Decently Powerful And Fun Practical Sedan — Having owned a 1995 Legacy, this is a night and day difference. The quality seems to have improved greatly, although this is much newer so not a fair comparison. The performance is at least as good as the H6 in the SVX, but the transmission is much more stout and durable. The gas mileage is not fantastic, but its a big, heavy engine in a big, heavy car, so for what it is its decent. The styling is nice and modern, but subtle. It looks good, but its not eye-catching. The suspension is harsh, but it gives it tight handling for the size and mass of the car. The interior is nicely appointed and cleanly designed, with a good amount of modern features. Its very comfortable to drive and very quiet inside. Some of the basic maintenance, like headlight bulbs and spark plugs, are awkward to get to.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Engine performance, exhaust note, handling, interior, noise level

Cons: Fuel economy, changing headlights and spark plugs, ride quality over bumps and potholes

Nice 4cyl Car — Acceleration is good for a AWD 4cyl, better than most with similar HP and torque, braking is precise, and handling... this thing is all but glued to the ground. It is very fun to drive on dry, wet or iced roads. The gas mileage isn't very 4cyl-like, but thats due to the AWD and lite tire spin from the icy roads Alaska has...

Pros: I really like the quality of the car overall has gotta be the best thing.

Cons: the gas mileage isn't that great but that is partially due to my right foot and the cold weather.

Great Car Overall. — Overall it is a good car. Basic transportation, but it is kind of fun. Could use more power but the manual helps. I have put a lot of miles on it, has survived pretty well, a few squeeks here and there. Gets good mileage too!

Pros: I like the styling of the car and the color.

Cons: Some things seemed to need replacement as I was just out of warrenty.  The dealer I bought the car, while good in sales, really SUCKED in the service department!
