Write a reviewThe 8th-generation Honda Accord sedan sets new standards of refinement and new benchmarks for its competitors. The new Accord measures five inches longer and one inch wider than the Toyota Camry. An inch or more space has been added to back-seat leg and knee room in the more spacious cabin. Richer cabin materials are also in abundance, with a choice of stain or wood accents, very much like an Acura interior.
The DOHC 2.4-liter four remains the base engine, rated at 177 or 190 hp. The high-output version comes with variable-valve timing hardware and revs to a 7,100-rpm redline, providing shades of that old Honda magic. The SOHC V6 grows from 3.0 to 3.5 liters, spinning out an impressive 268 hp. In the sedan, the V6 comes equipped with Honda's VCM (variable cylinder management) system, which allows it to run on 3, 4, or all 6 cylinders. Honda figures it adds a gallon per mile to the overall mpg numbers. Although the engines produce more power, the new Accords' gas mileage remains the same as or better than (depending on the reviewer) that of the '07s. The V6 gets 19 mpg city and 29 highway, with the fours rated at 21/31 mpg.
In the sedan only the four-cylinder engines get the five-speed manual, with a five-speed automatic optional. The high-output four and the V6 come with a noise-canceling system that works through the Accord's speaker system.
The front suspension has undergone changes, with a new variable-ratio, variable-effort steering system added. The high-output four and the V6 get front spring tower braces. Honda has lowered the car's center of gravity and raised its roll centers, which add up to much less body roll in the turns. Overall, reviewers praised the new Accord's firm but compliant ride, ranking it at a higher level of sophistication than its competitors.
Honda has made safety a priority for the whole line. The Accord comes standard with ABS brakes, traction control, brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front-row side-impact thorax bags, side-curtain airbags front and back, and active head restraints. Honda also redesigned the front end to reduce injures in case of collision with a pedestrian.
This all comes at a similar price point to last year's model. But Honda is not doing this only for consumers - it's aiming at Toyota's Camry and Nissan's Altima.

A very reliable and comfortable car with a roomy trunk. The interior is nicely finished and roomy; sound system is very nice. Low maintenance costs and the car gets about 25 mpg overall. Handling and braking are great, and the car has good acceleration.May 02, 2015

The brakes squeak, Honda would not do anything and we replaced on our own. The leather seat material is marginal, Honda said nothing they could do. However, we lover the power, handling, styling and comfort. Although there are some things we had issues with overall it is a very solid car.Dec 30, 2014

The long standing reliability of the Honda Accord speaks for itself. But, the new body style introduced in 2008 coupled with leather, heated seats and sunroof on its EX-L trim makes its appearance as strong as its reliability. excellent. Fuel economy is best in the segment. Best among the Japanese cars. The
i-Vtec Technology is unique. The Audio System is a bit lousy with rear mounted
speakers good for garbage. You will need to install an amplifier and new set of

I purchased this car new in 2008 and have been very happy with the
car. I love the look and quality of the car. I average 28-30 mpg on the
highway and it's lots of fun to drive. The 4cylinder I-VTEC engine is
very quick and accelerates rapidly onto the highway. I love the 6 disc
CD changer and I also love the fact that I have airbags all around me.
Front, side of seat, and side curtain airbags extending to the back
passengers. The cost to own this car is relatively low and I enjoy the
maintenence minder system showing me my oil perecentage i.e. 100%,
75%, 15%. Honda recommends changing the oil at 15% which is every

Performance- quick acceleration, excellent braking, excellent handling. Very refined for a 4 cylinder engine.
The build quality is what you would expect from a Honda. It is very good.
The styling is classy and looks sleek. Nice refined finish.
Maintenance has been minimum since it is less than a year old only oil changes have been needed. Gas mileage is very good. Best in class actually. Averaging about 8.2 litres per 100 kms.
This is a family sedan, but it is still a fun car to drive.May 14, 2009

the acceleration is a bit slower at first, but once it pick up it speed up fast. handling and braking is excellent. handles like a sports car. the innovated exterior and interior design is amazing. 19mpg city/ 29mpg on highway. maintence cost is very low, it will indicated service in your instrument panel what you need to do in order to keep your vehicle in sufficent running condition. overall, it is a very good buy with all the options included.Dec 07, 2008

Best performance you expect, 280 HP, amazing acceleration. Economic in fuel consumption only on highways, in town it is little costly.
Price is reasonable in its class, USD 30k

I've owned this car for about two weeks now and already love it. The acceleration with the 271 horsepower V6 and drive-by-wire throttle system is the smoothest I've ever driven. The exterior definitely draws some looks with its aggressive front end and bold side styling. The interior is clean and modern looking. It has some pretty fancy features like heated leather seats, voice command technology with bluetooth, and a navigation system, not to mention power/automatic everything. The fuel mileage is helped greatly by the Variable Cylinder Management technology, which reduces the engine to run on 3, 4, or 6 cylinders depending on demand. I average between 28 - 30 miles per gallon. And hell yeah the car is fun to drive, not to mention the ladies love it too.Sep 30, 2008

We chose this car mostly because of its consumer reports test. It was ranked as one of the most solid and dependable cars ever made. After the first test drive, i was sold. I just traded my 2003 accord in this spring on the all new 2008 Accord
being 6 foot 4 inches tall, the new larger cockpit is wonderful. The LX-P model was just what I want , the power drivers seat lets me find my perfect driving position for my 1 hour commute each way to work. I wanted alloy wheels, but not the sunroof. Being so tall sun roofs cut into my headroom. Over all I am very impressed with this car.May 07, 2008

Some great things about the V6 Auto is that it gets great gas mileage especially with the VCM system. The ride is really smooth and the pickup is amazing. The car also has many safety features. The audio features on the steering wheel are very helpful while listening to music and driving without getting distracted. What I really like the most about the car is that it has an incredible amount of leg room. Being 6'2", I've drove many cars and ended up with a sore ankle because the leg room was just awful for my height, this is the first car that I am able to relax while driving.Apr 05, 2008
