Not too much changed for the classic BMW M5 sedan in 2008. The main changes come in the form of some exterior and interior updates. The M5 also gets a new 7 speed sequential manual gearbox and comes in one Base trim.
The 2008 BMW M5 gets going in a hurry with its impressive 5.0 L, 500 hp V10 engine with optional 6 speed manual transmission. Gas mileage comes out to 12 mpg in the city and 18 on the highway. The Base trim has 4 doors, seats 5, and offers standard sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, navigation system, ABS brakes, stability control, and traction control.
Overall, the BMW M5 has maintained its spot atop the high performance sedan market, although it no longer occupies the throne. The gearbox gets criticized as a bit rough and comes off as not as responsive as it could be. Despite the end of its automotive supremacy, the current version of the M5 can still run with the top dogs in the industry.

February 16, 2013This car is amazing. Can't beat the looks and performance. Stebro exhaust and 20" wheels make it look and sound mean! No complaints other than rear wheel drive and not all wheel drive like im used to with audi quattro.

April 23, 2008Beautiful engine, naturally aspirated V10 going all the way up to 8500 rpm with a nice 507 bhp on a most brilliant rear wheel drive chassis. SMG gearbox has its flaws but not much to complain about, except that you have to press "M" to unlock the best of it. Oh and the annoying satnav, and the dodgy bluetooth... Build quality is what you'd expect from the manufacturer. Feul economy is nothing to get happy about, but it's a V10. The punchline? One of the best cars ever.

April 17, 2008I’ve owned 3 so far. It’s really the ultimate BMW and one of the best sounding engines in the world. I would only place the Aventador V12 and Ferrari V12 above it. The car is a unicorn and now is the best time to buy them before prices get crazy like the E30 M3.
