Write a reviewIn its second year as the full-size sedan replacement for the popular LeSabre, the 2007 Buick Lucerne made few changes, aside from a new grille. The base model CX sedan features a 3.8-liter, 197-hp V6 engine. The luxury CXL comes with either the V6 or the new and much more robust 4.6-liter, 275-hp V8. The top-end sporty CXS comes only with the V8. All engines are paired with a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
The 2007 Lucerne aims to compete with the well-known luxury brands of Lexus and Mercedes. It certainly comes with plenty of standard features, such as ABS brakes, air conditioning, power seats, windows, and locks, and leather upholstery on all but the base model. Magnetic ride control is combined with Stabilitrak for sturdier and more precise handling on the road. Reinforced steel parts and extra insulation have been added to help reduce road noise. Some nice options include leather trim, a navigation system, and seats that can be heated or cooled. Despite these efforts, the Lucerne looks vaguely like an old Buick, and its performance on the road isn't particularly noteworthy.
Most owners of the 2007 Buick Lucerne seem to love its quiet and comfortable ride. The interior is spacious for five (six with an optional front bench seat) and the V8's power is definitely a big plus, taking the guesswork out of acceleration or merging. All agree it is comfortable for long trips. Complaints focus on poor gas mileage, bland styling inside and out, a tendency to shudder, and the need for an updated transmission.

I had problem with my Lucrene and I replaced the actuator on the driver side it work well. Now I am having problem with the bypass switch that control the heat . I can use it manually with no problem.Jul 17, 2024

The Lucerne is a very good car, but there are a few issues when the cars become older. The electric door locks dont function properly. The window motors go bad. The TPMS system sensors need to be replaced. And for some of cars that are from the North of the USA, due to the snow and salt, the pinch weld areas (this is where the body frame is attached to the chassis) underneath the car rust out. All in all a great car for road trips with plenty of room and the power to get there. Would have expected more from the Northstar V8 but its really not a sports car. The styling is a bit of an acquired taste but it's growing on me with every mile a spend in those plush seats weather I have the coolers on or the heaters.Nov 11, 2013

Other than a minor complaint and attention to detail as far as interior finish, I love this 2007 Buick Lucerne CXS. It was everything I had hoped for when purchased in Sept. 2007. Quick on acceleration, with no hesitation. Good handling with little 'lean' on corners. Good brakes. Very quite - rustproofing and sound deadening features used for the first time, and next to go into the Cadillacs. The appearence is perfect for me. - Classy without being gaudy, and with a touch of 'sport'. Exterior and interior styling are the most perfect for me that I've owned. - Ergonomics are perfect, and comfort factor is high. It is an easy pleasure to drive, and on cruise, it is effortless, and feels like it's driving itself. - The extra $$ I splurged for the sunroof is the best investmaent I ever made. The sunroof really opens up the interior, and makes for a very 'free' feeling on the road.Aug 17, 2009
