The 2006 Toyota Sienna saw mostly cosmetic changes for the model year, including a front end facelift, and various interior changes across the trims.
The 2006 Toyota Sienna came in four trims: the CE, the LE, the XLE, and the XLE Limited. The CE is extremely bare-bones, offering only the most basic features, with the XLE Limited coming fully-loaded with plenty of high-end amenities. The LE and both XLEs are available with AWD. Across the board, the engine is a 3.3 liter, 215 horsepower V6. Fuel economy is 19/27.
Fans of the 2006 Toyota Sienna like that it handles more like a car than a van. They also appreciate the cargo space, seating configurations, and availability of 4WD. The most common complaint is that adding options can cause the price of the van to rise dramatically.

I bought the van with a lot of unknowns. It ran and drove fine but there was issues of maintenance not being done in a timely manner or not being done but I accepted it as a challenge. The interior was in good shape for a car with 263000 miles but the oil was clean and was a one owner car so overall my wife was pleased because it will suit her job so I bought it home to start getting the out of date maintenance done so she would feel secure while driving it. Sienna 2004 thru 2010 were the best minivans ever made. They are reliable and most importantly safe in case of accidents. They are better than the new Siennas in a frontal crash.Dec 07, 2020

This is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned for family trips. Lots of options for configuring the kids in the back, depending on whether they are loving or fighting. This van is as stable as it gets in the MN winters!May 04, 2015

I like how the back row of seats goes down up, is split etc. I like the power tailgate, I like our particular model (xle/limited) has memory drivers seat and mirrors. The vehicle also handles quite well at high speeds.Mar 23, 2015

On the downside, 2004-2010 Siennas have issues with the power sliding doors getting jammed open or not being able to either open or close because of issues with the cable and motor system. A replacement of the cables or motors could run over $4000. The Toyota extended warranty covers only the cables, not the motors. In my case the dealership misdiagnosed the problem or refuse to honor the warranty by claiming it was caused by the motors. Toyota corporate was of no help saying that they were fully confident in the competence of all their dealerships. Eventually the cable snapped and I took it to a more competent dealer who fixed it under warranty. So I would recommend avoiding the 2004-2010 Siennas unless the door cables and motors were recently replacedSep 17, 2014

Needs attention to electrical problems with door locks. Seemed to be going out way too early in life cycle of the vehicle, especially considering Toyota's supposed engineering reputation.
Also, now making a strange sound in the console area. Sounds like a fan blade is hitting something inside.
Would re-consider buying a Honda next time.

Trouble free. Virtually maintenance free. Roomy. Versatile. 10.5" DVD screen is clutch. Electric lift gate and sliding doors are awesome. Road manners are exceptional. Walk-through access to third row seats also key. It is also a great cargo carrier when you need it.Mar 27, 2011

I love my minivan! With three kids its a necessary part of life. Performance-Its a van, it doesnt drive like a car but handles better than my hubbys truck. Never had any mechanical problems with it other than normal wear and tear. Gas mileage is just a little worse than a car but worth it for the room. Feb 26, 2011

This minivan has been good to me. Just did only factory service tires and brakes. I am getting about 24 mpg. I use this vehicle as my company car and am able to haul most of my tools and supplies in it and still get good gas milageApr 04, 2010

We we should start with the brake pads, and rotors failing between 9000 to 15000 miles. We have replaced them 3 times, and the dealer didn't warranty the problem. We were not impressed with Toyota's service. Secondly we average 16 miles per gallon with having to refuel every 270 miles. From there we have the handling problem. The car is cumbersome and is difficult to manuever. We purchased this vehicle because we needed the room and assumed buying a Toyota would be a good investment. I was mistaken, but the good news is that I don't have to buy another Toyota. Read other reviews on the brake pad problem from other consumers, and draw your own conclusion. Personal note even their new Sienna's have the same problem with undersized brake pads.Jan 04, 2009

This vehicle is amazing for a family. The quality of everything, from bumper to bumper, has been wonderful. The Sienna will move pretty fast if you really want it to, but other than that, the van isn't too much fun to zip around in. It's more of a luxurious cruiusing vehicle.Sep 21, 2008

This 2006 model comes with a 226 HP engine. A year later, Toyota put forward a newer engine with 260 HP, which should work better, because the van is over 2 tons, and the 226 HP engine has to work quite hard when accelerating. Handling is just about average, but is surprisingly well for a tall and big vehicle. Very roomy inside with enough space for 7 adults and some luggage.Mar 31, 2008

How do Ieave a review if I only went to the dealer in person and didn't text or call etc. ?
I would like to leave a review on a specific car, or specific dealership. Just as a warning to others. How do I do that? WE drove the van and were about to purchase it when my son noticed that the sticker on the timing belt cover said it was changed at 154,000 miles+ and the car was listed and read only 74,000ish miles. So we are wondering why the difference and the dealer didn't have a good answer.

car will not move in any gear all of a sudden.
2006 toyota sienna. Daughter drove from her house about 3 blocks, stopped at a stop sign, then the car would not go. Tried all gears and the engine just revs. When you put it in park it makes a grinding noise and you can push the car when it is in park. rolls like it is in neutral. Already checked linkage and shifter, all were fine. It just won't drive or engage park correctly.,
